It happened to me once, but then I realised I was asleep... That promoted me to wake myself up, and I did... I felt quite good apart from the fact I had a hard-on the size of a babys arm, and didn't think I shout roll over, in case I toppled onto my front and suffocated...

How can this be a pointless post when it has this many replies. The first person to view it was WSB2, he didn't lock or ban the thread. It was just to show that given an enticing thread title, you can pull so many people in :)

Its called Marketing :)

But what if Carl s did this? Totally different out come i think. It all boils down to if your liked or not, not by the mods but the general population

I dislike you all equally so in my view this thread should be deleted. But then you get the huge uproar around why it was deleted.

Personally I would delete all posts that have absolutely no benefit to the forum. Its hardly a discussion point, its of no technical importance, its of no relevence to anything that anybody on here does and is just taking up bandwidth.

I dont spend much time on the forum at the moment but when I do I see so much drivel that I stop looking. Im glad when I get to the end of the '500 new posts'.

So it may be time to start being brutal on pointless posts. I know it annoys the other mods as well, but they are mostly too polite to say.

ahh if only. I believe there are areas that are worth discussing in off-topic, but surely asking if you have been assaulted by a naked blond bird is just pointless. At best maybe 1 other person would say yes and even if somebody says yes how is that helping anybody else on the forum? It benefits nobody.

If people can stop and think if their posts are

    of technical importance?
of relevence to anybody else on the forum?
able to generate a discussion about the topic (as opposed to a myriad of unrelated replies)?
relevent to more than a minority of members

Im glad my new posts are limited to 500 items as it means I miss so much of the dross, dross that is actually making me question my presence here. It is supposed to be primarily a car club with some offtopic discussion, not the other way round. When the rhubarb from offtopic starts to drown out the technical and supra chat sections then its no longer about the car.

The 'blonde' thread was ironic...posted by one of the more sensible amongst your members. Therein lies the problem with off-topic...its too hard for the moderators to read through all the crap, but just reading the heading cant enable you to judge whether its genuinly funny / interesting or just inane fluff.

But, if the moderators cant handle the volume of posts then its a free for all.

This is your forum JB, I'd like to think we all respect that...but you have created a very popular and fun place to be, large membership and large post counts could be seen as a measure of your success. As to whether the actual Supra related content is suffering due to the off-topic stuff..it comes down to how you want your site to appear to others, whether more valued members may leave directly due to the 'quality' of new membership, bandwith (is off-topic dispensable, or maybe NWS should be dumped first:)) and such.

Depends on how strongly you feel about it.

Don't forget, what one person thinks is an intelligent/imformative/interestings subject worthy of off topic, others will think its complete rubbish. I can see the mods and JB's point about the amount of pure cod s**t but there are so many members on here, you can please some of the people some of the time..............

Also, for Supra chat and technical there is indeed, Supra chat and technical sections. I admit to posting things 100% of the club may not be interested in off topic, but as i have a lack of Tech knowledge i wont post in the Technical section

Thats the whole point to this thread, its in off topic, its the right place for it to be. This to me and others here is more than a car club, it is a way of life. You created this monster JB all those years ago, it has evolved. I know if I want to find out what the red button on the auto gearstick does or what is the most appropriate size wheels are for road handling I can come here and delve into the wealth of information. I know if I have a car related problem I can come here and ask, and someone will help.

I also know that I can come on here and talk about politics and religion with folk from vastly different background. We have had people posting with relationship problems, problems with neighbour, legal problems, computer problems, the list goes on.

I have made friends here and have gone to meets and had a great time with other people who happen to drive supra's. When I had my crash last year, there was a mini meet going on and they all stopped and made sure I was OK.

This is more than a car club and I am happy and glad to be part of it.
