terribleturner
Now before you start i have searched and i'll i could find was where and who sells them. So when i bought my j-spec sup it had already had new plugs put in, IK27's. Im now running a double decat (+restrictor ring), fcd, Boost Ctr and induction and i just wanna check that these are fine. The threads that i found usually indicate 24's, but there were a couple sugesting 24,25,26 and 27 were available. I know i need colder plugs, but what does the actual grading mean?? Is it like 27 are the coldest?? Any advice always greatfully recived :upside:
Jake
Yeah, IK27 is the coldest running (of the IK22, IK24, IK27 range) I'm pretty sure that most folks find the IK24 plugs are more than adequate for BPU. What does the car run like on IK27s? Any troubles starting or with plug fouling?
terribleturner
The car starts fine and runs fine too, but the other day i went to rev the engine (Because im in love with my decat ) and it backfired a couple of times. i thought maybe this may have something to do with it. Have a day off tomorrow so will check the state of the plugs. Cheers Jake
Jake
If you're going to the trouble of taking the plugs out because you suspect a problem you might as well put a set of NGK BCPR7ES in there. They're only about £10 for six. Folks used to reckon those Denso Iridium plugs were good for like 40,000 miles or somesuch. I've noticed that people are not raving about them so much nowadays and just going for the much cheaper NGK plugs. Of course you have to change them more often. terribleturner
Good thinking Batman. Thanks again
Alex
I still rave about Denso's. I think they are worth the money and the peace of mind. Obviously though when it comes to tuning different people get different results. I would have thought IK27's were too cold for a car that's only BPU. I'll be sticking IK24's in shortly... James - if you replace the 27's can you send them to me to "test"? Assuming they aren't buggered?
