Ben-san
I'm sure you all share the same thought, that when it comes to our Supras, the joy is all in the detail. This I share with you with this post. When I first picked up my car three years ago, I fell in love with its look. Bronze, complemented with a few gold details. The previous owner started the theme, and I was to do but a few things to finish it, starting with some gold calipers. Years go by and I grow tired of the dials staring back at me everyday. Going BPU meant getting one of the prettiest of guages from Défi. This didn't help at all - everything else seemed dull in comparison, especially at night. So the dream was, to make everything look like the beautiful little Défi in the corner. I search and search, and nothing quite hits the spot. EL Glow wasn't an option for it's blue light, so the only way was to find some dial faces and do a white LED conversion somehow. And then a couple of months ago, Heckler put up a set of Défi-style faces for sale. Bonza. Now, I'm no electrical expert - but I knew that the stock cluster suffered from poor lighting positions anyway. So I commissioned Si to develop something special for me... redesigning the PCBs with my requirements in mind, to distribute the glow evenly across all the numbers. New white LEDs in place: One Sunday visit to Si's place and a few doughnuts later, and it's done. Behold, my new dials. Let this be proof of the solder iron-wielding skills he possesses. Thank you Mr Murphy, you're a star and a bringer of joy!
