Ewen
Why are you trapped in Christmas? I've lost my non festive sheep shagging bear. I think Roger in IT deleted it. Cant prove it, but the evidence points to him. Cant expect much else from a ginger haired Seat driver from Stoke.

Ewen
That's terrible, you should complain about Roger. NEVER complain about IT bods. They have you by the exotically oiled and sensuously glistening short and curlies. My world revolves around the millions of multi coloured pixels displayed before me....IT are the Guardians of RAM, they follow Ginger Rogers every command...I dare not incur their wrath. ozz
I've been on large forums before where mods get fed up with the amount of dross posted in 'off topic' areas, a few of them just removed post count increment from off topic areas. Sadly many people feel they have to post a smilie in every thread, or say hi to every new member or make a comment just to increase their post count more than actually contribute anything worthwhile, just my 2c worth. hogmaw
Yes I think removing post count increment from Off-Topic threads is a good idea. The whole point of seeing a large post count is to show people how much experience of the forum you have and how much contribution you make, is it not? So that it makes you a more respected/trusted member. What is the point of having a high post count if all it represents is that you post sh1te all day? AND banning 'smilie only' replies is a good idea too

I do think we have a problem with people making daft threads on the forum but I don't get why people think that removing post counts would stop people posting new threads. I spend most of my time in off topic and have no idea of my post count. I hardly think 'oooh lets log on and post little replies to get my post count up so guys who have never met me can think i'm cool'. Surely if those who post pointless threads got their fingers smacked...that would be more effective? I would argue that the post count shows how active you are in the forums... not how respected you are. We all know from experience on the boards who are the most knowledgable etc. I would also politely suggest to the mods, that the more you limit free discussion in the 'off topic' board the more you could make this great forum into those boring and 'dead' technical only boards. I know people like that idea (the boring technical people ) but IMO the ability to discuss anything etc is what makes this forum so great and the people closer than other groups I know. I have quite a high post count considering I've only been around for 16 months or so. I have always been aware of my post count but I don't find it hard to clock up 20 posts a day as there is so much going on. I would imagine I have very few smiley only posts and I don't say hi to all the newbies! Some of my recent posts must have made epic reading as they are 6 or 7 paragraphs. I enjoy the banter on here and the humour, it has also taught me a lot about my car too! I would like to think my posts are a mixture of quality and quantity. As you have said it's easy to clock up a lot of posts but it's what you have to say that counts. Unfortunaltely I have an awful lot to say. People who know me personally would testify to this..... I personally have noticed lately that there is a lot of shite being coughed up that is not clever or pleasurable to read. If we could cut all this shit out then we'd be laughing!! H.
