Ian R
One of my managers did an interview today for a colleague position instore. After the interview he fedback that the interviewee did not come across as well as he could of, compared to his CV that he handed in. He had listed every job and qualification he had gained from primary school upwards was all in all around 15 pages long. The funny thing was he also handed in references from 4 of his previous employers. None of them were on company letterheaded paper but they had got company logo's on top of them. Amazing what photoshop can does these days LOL. The bug give away was that all the references were very very similar and strangely all had the same spelling and grammer mistakes in them. Needless to say he won't be taking a position in the near future

saboteur
You know funnily enough, a recruitment agent said to me just TODAY: "Over the years, in recruitment I have learnt that honesty is not the best policy"
CJ
You know funnily enough, a recruitment agent said to me just TODAY: "Over the years, in recruitment I have learnt that honesty is not the best policy" I can well believe that. In all my years of running different operations, I have never come across a more corrupt, deceitful and downright dishonest industry than the recruitment agencies. "I can get you a job tomorrow. 17k minimum. People from the South do really well up here" That was 'Lee' from Office Angels in Leeds the day before offering me a job for 10.5k. Kranz
Hmmm, an attempt fraud offence I think. Tell your manager to give him a bit of advice on the penalties of fraud by false representation, posession of articles for use in fraud and making articles for use in fraud. A few years inside might put him off?
SimonB
How did he get an interview with a 15 page CV anyway? That should have gone straight in the bin - way too long for anyone to actually bother reading.

Yeah I've still got the email she sent me. I know SO many people who are absolute crap, but they can talk their way out of guantanamo bay! Just makes me sick to my stomach and the worst thing is that I am tempted to fall into that trap. As the saying goes "if you can't beat them, join them!" Ian R
How did he get an interview with a 15 page CV anyway? That should have gone straight in the bin - way too long for anyone to actually bother reading. All our recruitment is done online now. They fill in the recruitment form online and head office book the interviews and they bring cv's along with them. Now head office "select" the candidates. So they decide what the dross is. Only went live a month ago and the jury is out on the decision. So far its not promising.
saboteur
I swear most of the people at my work have these.. http://www.fakedegrees.com/ You wouldn't believe how many companies and I'm talking massive FTSE 100 companies that don't even verify peoples qualifications and references. Again, another thing that pisses me off being honest and everyone bullshitting their way through...
michael
I can well believe that. In all my years of running different operations, I have never come across a more corrupt, deceitful and downright dishonest industry than the recruitment agencies. That's why I got out, I was too honest - the clients loved it, the people looking for work liked it - sadly the slimeball management of the company couldn't understand it and constantly tried to force me to be like the rest of them. "Greed is good" was the unofficial company motto Good money though, I miss that.
colsoop
I remember when i left the forces trying to get in to IT. I was encoraged to "spice up" my cv by recruiters things like adding extra time to certain jobs and adding responsibilities etc. Other candidates for the same job had done exactly that (they told me as much) guess who got the job ? Put it this way i don't work in IT.
