that is so out of order the NHS will go bust if everyone who has got MRSA sues for that amount

its also a double take the p**s as she must have millions already, i dont know how they came up with such a massive figure for compensation? it cant be loss of earnings

Anyway, no you shouldn't be able to sue the NHS, or other public body....the person in charge should be held responsible.

I agree. Like the man who resigned after killing all those elderly people in his care but I can't remember the name or any other details - only that he should have been held accountable.

I do think she should be able to claim from somewhere though. She was an actress and has lost considerable amount of earnings and is paralysed for life.

Originally it was 500,000 now 5mil...could this be media based inflation?

Is there one person in charge of the NHS? You couldn't sue the Minister for Health as they hold ministerial immunity. I don't think the head of a health trust has vicarious liability.

What an absolute bitch, suing the hospital for £5 million. dident she think that the hospitals need that money or hasn't she got enough of her own? Yes i know she got msra but i expect alot of people have and not won a fat £5m, what a complete bitch

I hadn't realised she had issues walking until today though, £5m is supposed to cover her loss of earnings until death.

coming out of court in a wheelchair looks a dam site better for her doesnt it? loss of earnings till death! when was the last time she was seen on the tele

Properly just before she contracted an illness that put her in a coma from a dirty hospital.

I wouldn't imagine you'd be thinking about the other ill people if you were in that position.

I suspect she'd probably be willing to swap the £5m if she could rewind her life a bit and do without the lips, MSSA, dodgy legs and so on though.

It's a nice chunk of cash but money isn''t everything.

Wasn't it not so long ago that during the petrol strikes, the government said that the NHS would suffer. I would hate to think what it would be like if they really didnt get any money. We suffer 3rd rate hospitals, our roads are crumbling, the education system is a joke and yet we do not question where the money has gone?
