shaf
i know some of you lot are dog lovers. so i thought i would bring to your attention some akita's that are in need of loving homes. we all know how expensive akita pups are, so to get a nice one for free is a bonus. all you have to do is provide a kind and loving home and a £100 adoption fee (not quite free then i guess) just check out the link here http://www.akitarescue.org.uk/ aaaaaaaaaah, aren't they cute http://www.akitarescue.org.uk/images/rescue_dogs/submitted_images/331_large.jpg http://www.akitarescue.org.uk/images/rescue_dogs/submitted_images/332_large.jpg http://www.akitarescue.org.uk/images/rescue_dogs/submitted_images/333_large.jpg http://www.akitarescue.org.uk/images/rescue_dogs/submitted_images/334_large.jpg

tbourner
Akita's or Danes? Akita's are "medium sized" to me We had a female great dane, she was a HORSE!!! But I've also seen a male Akita owned by a Siberian Husky breeder, and he was about the same size as I remember the Dane being.

tbourner
Or there's: http://www.malamuterescue.co.uk/ Plenty of dogs out there who could do with a loving family, in the US I believe there are so many they have to kill them regularly (1 every 6 seconds or something). After all that might be why the dogs ended up with them in the first place.

Chris Wilson
How would they react with a GSD male? A male Akita would probably kill it, or damage it psychologically A female should be OK. IMO they are not a dog for everyone, by any means. They can look stunning, but they can also be VERY dominant and difficult. I wouldn't dream of one if I had young children about, others may disagree Having said that I keep going back to the pup photos and having to beat myself about the head with a weighty object to keep a sense of reality. They are hellish cute! http://kumikkoakitas.homestead.com/AkitaProfile.html
matt k
A friend of mine breeds them and they can be imposing, I remember when i fist met T.J, he was 30" at the withers and was only 18 months old, he still needed to fill out but he was BIG, his older brother Shadow was 28" so was a show dog T.J was considered too tall to show.
