Mark Ayling
I have had my Apexi AVC-R and Super AFC for nearly two years now (in the car when I bought it) but I still do not feel like I understand completely how they work or what they do exactly!! I understand the very basics of the AVC-R in as much as I know how to set the boost and duty for each preset (A and B) but I don't know how/what to set the graph-like duty screen to, I think its something to do with different duty setting for different RPM? Also, there's stacks of other settings which I haven't got a clue about! Can anyone advise me on this, also any other settings I should be worried about or which might make a difference? Also, I have an Apexi Rev/Speed meter (not the latest one) which does not seem to be configured correctly any more, it does not show the correct speed/revs at all and I don't know what the settings should be - the manual is not very useful IMO! Does anyone know anything about these? TIA, Mark.

Mark Ayling
LOL So, what are the settings then Paul?
Paul Whiffin
Don't know haven't fitted an AVC-R yet, sorry. Have you looked at the manuals on USA Apexi site?
Mark Ayling
The manuals aren't a lot of use to someone like me - apart from being poorly translated, they only seem to explain what each setting is rather than what it does/what effect it will have/suggested settings etc. I was after someone who can give me a layman's description of the basics.... Mark Ayling
So, no-one on here knows how to use the Apexi AVC-R then...?
Adam W
I also came to the conclusion that it was too complicated for me to mess with, but before I bought one. Sorry. But if you're hitting the boost you want, and it's holding it nicely, then what more do you need to know?

Yep, that's a lot more useful than the Apexi manuals! Thanks for that. The bit about start duty is useful - most of the time the peak-hold indicator doesn't go over what I've selected, but then every now and again I'll glance over to see that its overboosted a touch. I guess I need to work out when it overboosts and mess with the start duty to get it right.
Neil Sandham
The overboost will occasionally happen...its impossible to iron out all spikes. Once the unit has gone into self learn mode (denoted by "***" in the boost settings screen, the unit will iron out most problems it's self. To be honest the only used I have found for playing with start duty, is to give a better kick (short periods of time) in low gears above that preset for the normal boost level. cheers Neil.
