keancy
Hubby wants me to buy a decent Road Map for when we start coming along to meets. Any suggestions of what to buy? tooquicktostop
Very old skool Get a tom tom or something similar, I would be lost without mine now (excuse to pun !!), could not go back to having a map on my lap
ShamelessTT
Tom tom 720 is great, highly recommended. Unless youve got a co pilot maps are pretty useless IMO.
Gaz6002
Garmin are the best sat nav IMO, Tom Tom is blown completely out of the water. I think she's asking specifically for maps though, in which case the one with the speed cameras listed is one of the better ones, available from W H Smith IIRC. keancy
Thanks for the replies guys but I really only want a map. My Hubby is ex army and actually a dab hand at reading road maps, only thing is the one we have is as old as the hills. We used to travel 1200km here twice a year from Germany for 7 years before we lived here and he always did the map reading while I did the driving. Always went well apart from that one time when.........................different story that
merckx
Hubby wants me to buy a decent Road Map for when we start coming along to meets. That's very generous of him, is it being gift wrapped with a nice ribbon? Sat nav's are so cheap now. http://www.bargain-satnav.co.uk/tomtom_go/tomtom-go-gb-series.htm
JustGav
I carry a cheapy AA road map in the car as a backup to the GPS.
colsoop
I am still an old school map reader too That map you linked too looks ok but make sure it gives details a bit further afield than the main cities though as quite often meets aren't in the towns I would personally get a larger uk map and if i go to a city quite often get a specific A to Z for that city. Blackie
i have a tom tom 500, maps dont tell you where the speed cameras are:D (well some do)
RobSheffield
I also have an AA map as a backup, and generally find its easier to find where i want to be and get there with the map than pressing buttons..... ...Does that mean im turning into CW?! Jake
Garmin are the best sat nav IMO, Tom Tom is blown completely out of the water. Bold claim. In which ways is the Garmin so much better than TomTom?

juanchan
I've got so many mates who've struggled to find my house from as little as 10 miles away with only my postcode and a satnav to guide them, that I'm sticking with a road map too. A large-scale route planner fits nicely between the drivers seat and the central console in the Supra too.
