pa06has
Heres my prob; My gf has recently crashed my car and wrote my baby off! (rear end hit!) Its not a total write off, just a repairable loss, so they have decdided to write it off! So was thinking to buy a cheapish NA and convert it to a TT, which hopefully i can use my old car - once ive negoited with my insurance a settlement figure! If it all works out my way! prop wont as its just my luck. Would i need to make any big changes to the car?! My old tt has will have, engine, 6speed gearbox, etc etc! Any thoughts? Nic
Have a read of this thread http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=130455
AndyT
Cheap NA £2.5k TT swap, engine about £1.5, labour if you don't do it as in Miko's thread will probably be £1k + So all in all £5k minimum. Although you will learn loads doing the transplant I'd do this-- http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=133205 Just my opinion of course, but prices are down. Edit - if the insurance company offers a reasonable settlement that is.

Cheapest NA I can see is on ebay at £2500, you'll save the engine cost, but you need quotes from friendly garages who know what a Supra is. You can see the detail involved in Miko's thread. If the garage gets some of the finer points wrong you'll be in a world of trouble. If the garage gets it right however then you should save £1500 - £2000. Which would be nice. gaz1
i cannot see how this would be cost effective, why not buy it back, then sell the gearbox conversion, and everything else on the car, that way you would end up with more cash to buy another tt
pa06has
well, i am going to buy it back! n take money from insurance. then guna buy either tt if i can afford it, or a na then do work on it!
