Round trip can be done in 2 days, but agree its too much for a (long) weekend. Maybe day trips from base would be the way to go.

Crail, Knockhill and there is a place on the road to Aberdeen (can't remember the name right now) are the main places for staged events. There's also the local cruisin scene too.

Here's the link to the Crail calendar (goes up to July at present) http://www.crailraceway.co.uk/schedule.asp

And Knockhill

Would suggest HOT MARQUES TRACKDAYS (£10K+ cars) as people tend to be more careful on the track.

It's a bit of a distance for 1 day (coming from England)...travelling up on the Friday/leave Monday would be more relaxing.

I'd say fitting in a Crail non-mag day would be best... base ourselves in the aforementioned field (arrive friday evening for most folk I guess), spend the night time socialising etc. Do something Saturday, possibly Edinburgh Castle or other Touristy Edinburgh things and drive to Crail - about an hours drive at a slow pace - early Sunday morning (usually set off around 8AM). Now this means those that want some timed 1/4 mile or sprint track action can do it and those that don't can also have a nice day out spectating - there is also a show and shine area so we could also get a club stand area there. The drive to Crail itself is quite scenic and takes in some nice views and coastal towns. We'd leave Crail around 4PM and I'd suggest we pile into Dundee (pretty much on route back) or Edinburgh for an evening meal - both have Jimmy Cheungs all you can eat chinese buffets. The food is great and it's £12 a head plus your drinks, plus they have massive long tables for large groups. Afterwards people can return to base or head straight home via either the A1 or M8 / M74 combo.

How's this sound with everyone? I'd suggest a pencilled in date of the weekend starting Friday June 10th 2005 (Crail Raceway non-mag day Sunday 12th June 2005)... if this is ok with the Majority we'll start an attendance list :)

Cheers,

Brian.

The only downside is the fact that we would have to take two days holiday as it is not a bank Holiday weekend. Also, my son (14) who accompanies me to all the meets would have to take 2 days off school and there is no way his mum would allow that :twak:

We could go for a July date if that suits the majority better? Or August when a Crail schedule is published. Not sure if we can work it into a bank holiday weekend as I can't see the Crail website at work. It wouldn't be too hard to fit it all into arrive Friday leave Sunday evening for those that can't stay 'til Monday I don't think.

Cheers,

Brian.

I agree we need to vote on a date. No immediate rush but CJ- do you know when the summer hols start & finish? Brian- when you can, check out the website and see when 'suitable' dates would be.

Are people ok to take 1 or 2 days off work?

How does take Fri and Mon off work so drive up on Friday, drive back on Mon? Have both weekend days up there?
