ASDA parking fines.

From monday,

all ASDA car parks will have parking attendants,

if you are a non disabled person,or dont have any kids with you and you park in a car parking bay assigned for either disabled or a bay for those with kids you will recieve a fine..

well fair enough,. i respect the fact if your disabled its unfair to park half a mile from the store,.

i also respect the fact that if you have a baby or kid/s with you then its awkward to park too far from the store.

However,..

what happens if these "special" bays are full - and someone who is disabled etc has to park in a bay thats for regular use.,

will they get fines for parking in a bay for non-disabled ?

what happens if i go to shop at ASDA and all the regular parking bays are full and i cant park and shop cos someone with a limp and a disabled pass is parking in a regular bay ?

Thats discrimination against the "un-disabled" after all i pay taxes, i also pay for child benefit and the disabled out of the money i work hard for.

You might think im wrong but in this day and age,. if you are a single working man or woman with no kids you are 100% discriminated against.

I ratio to the number of disabled spaces vs disabled customers its not going to happen. Simply enforcing this will therefore mean adequate space for them.

I say fair play to them perhaps if people had respect for those who are disabled and consideration that they require the facility they wouldn't have to do this in the first place. But then with self centred attitude show in your post thats no suprise that they do

Fine, just dont winge here if it happens to you.

It won't because I'm not selfish. I'm able bodied. I'm not over encumbered with children. I'm not lazy and don't mind walking a few metres...even if it is cold and raining..

Besides, the best Supra spots are in the quiet areas of the car park where you don't have to feel guilty double parking. :eyebrows:

Fully agree... Even when I take the kids to shops, I won't park in the special spots because I full believe there will be families with little babies, and getting a buggy out and setting it up isn't easy.

Look Pete & Ian R,

i realy am a helpfull person, both my mother and father are disabled,my mum cant walk.,

I work in a Pawn shop,i often carry people in wheelchairs upstairs to help and i have no problem with this, its the right thing to do.

however, after 25 years of paying tax and never ever claiming any form of benefits or anything shouldnt i,.after all this time of paying all that money have some respect from the government or something,

some tax relief, or something, why the hell is it allways the standard working person being penalised.

The pawn shop where i work ok, everday - i see people ( some have been coming in for 10 years ) who are pissed out of there minds,. on "the sick" or some totaly chavved up,baseball caps, nike trousers tucked into there socks,.. pawning ps2 games so they can go to the pub,. and "there on the sick"

proper mums and dads with kids i respect ( i bet its hard raising a family) and proper disabled i allways help..

but w t f should i be fined yet some lazy bastard shirker get priority over me when i pay for them to skive ?

this is the pc brigade going to far again, its not right and its not fair.call me what you want.

Simple, you park the 1/2 mile away and walk in as you are probably able to.

As a parent and currently less abled member of society via lung capacity I can see why the best parking spaces are reserved for both those groups.

If you can't walk more than 20 metres then I'd say its fair enough to be able to park close to the store.

And the number of people that have had a piece of my mind for parking in either disabled or parents with kids parking spaces is immesurable.... usually well to do 4x4 drivers & BMW drivers.

Its not Joe Bloggs that comes into your pawn shop that is parking in the spaces though is it, and if it is they will get fined.

People with disabled badges don't get them on just a whim they get them because they need them.

Feeling that pain. :( Most disabled badge owners are fully able as spouse's can use them. And yeah after 25 to 30 fu**in' years it's high time we and our parents were treated properly. Or even respected for what has been paid in.

well yeh they do,

i know someone who comes in our shop and i know as fact he is fine,

my and someone else where i work filmed him on a phone carrying a 21" tv from the boot of his car to our shop, then went back to his car for his walking stick,he is 35 and hasnt worked for 12 years.

he has a badge.

If it wasnt for people like him then places like ASDA wouldnt have to fine abled bodied people and there would be more parking for the real disabled people.

@ justgav, the fines start on monday.

That's good to hear. You sound like a model citizen which I wish more people were like.

Unfortunately others aren't as considerate as we, and they need to be fined.

While on the subject of Asda and disabilities, our local store has bobbled paving slabs at the pedestrian crossings. Now a blind person isn't going to go shopping on their own are they- they might pick up a can of Ralgax Deep heat instead of hairspray, or a tube of No Moor Nails instead of toothpaste.... so get rid of the sodding bobbles as it's so annoying pushing a trolley over them, especialy if you have fizzy liquids/breakables on board.

but there are some decent and unfortunate people who realy are Ltd in there abilities.

The problem you really have is against benefit fraud, which I think you'll find we'll all whole heartily side with you on. NOT that disabled people should be fined for parking in able bodied spaces.

well yeh,it came out wrong,

i was using that as an extreme to suggest some relief to the taxpayer, after all disablity benefit comes from the working person.

Kudos to that man.

It wasn't a particularly nice thing to post and I did have second thoughts. If I were a younger me I'd have gone mental if someone said that to me ;) Darren took it very well.

honestly Pete im not a bastard or anything,.

:)

It's the way you tell 'em. I understand where you're coming from now.

We have a chap that works for us who was registered disabled. You should see him run up and down the stairs. He still carries the stick around for effect. He even gets a disability/motobility brand new car which his daughter drives around whilst he gets the bus every day.

That's annoying.

All decent people would wait a few minutes for a normal bay to become available.

I'm not lazy so I don't have a problem parking further away from the shop entrance.

Paying taxes doesn't come into it at all, Asda own the land so you're parking on private property.

well ynow what,if im in a queue and theres someone in a wheelchair or walking stick i will and often let them pay before me,. even if i only have a 30 minuite lunch break.
