Mike B
actually looking at your pic the front tyre looks stretched... so yeah... I did ask if they do a low and high dish, but was told they don't so that's that explanation out as well! oh well, there goes my theory..! I'll have to wait to plant that sucker on to see if it fits...
AshBhp
Wouldn't CW need the new wheels now to do full Geometry set up ? .
Mike B
Wouldn't CW need the new wheels now to do full Geometry set up ? They are almost identical to the wheels currently on aside weight, so he says no...., besides he'd have to be damn good as I only have one atm! He just called; car is ready, but one section of the train journey has been cancelled, replaced by bus, so it's a 6 hour journey to get to him
Chris Wilson
No, geo is wheel independent in this case. I have sent you an e-mail Mike. I also fond why the car was pulling under the brakes
Pete
I found these at the Autosport International show today. They are indeed very easy to lift. They had some other rather spiffing magnesium ones too.
imi
very nice wheel, what finish is this?.... http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/5398/as6dm0.jpg MVP has these at £1400 approx http://www.mvpmotorsports.com/Templates/frmTemplateM7.asp?SubFolderID=2107&SearchYN=N only thing, they look very delicate and flimsy to use in anger over some of our roads....?? that looks awesome....wonder about the strength of these llightweight wheels now that you mention it. Gaz Walker
Glad it arrived safe and well Mike. So I take it it fitted?!
Mike B
That's on tonights to do list... but I have an appointment in the gym, so it might have to wait until tomorrow.... oooh the suspense!
Mike B
Out with the gym, workout in the garage instead. They don't fit... on two counts.. I need 5mm extra clearance which i have a plan to get, but more worryingly the centre hole is miles off... everyone else who uses volk.. do you have to use a spigot ring....? I hope not with custom wheels this expensive!
Chris Wilson
Get some alloy or stainless rings turned up, plastic isn't really good enough. This is typical of 95% of aftermarket rims, short of having a true custom rim made, say by the likes of BBS, Image Wheels, Jongbloed, et cetera. merckx
the centre hole is miles off... everyone else who uses volk.. do you have to use a spigot ring....? Yes, hub bore dia 73mm
Pete
My Volk Challenge wheels have alloy rings. That's a big disappointment considering you were informed they'd be the correct centre diameter size.
Chris Wilson
Correct in this field means the hole is at least as big, probably bigger then the nose of the hub, IE, they'll go on Unless you get to talk to the engineers at wheel places you are whatsitting in the wind. That's why I like Image Wheels for road car applications, you can actually speak to the guy on the lathe. Same with Barnby Engineering wheels (No use for Supras, he does nothing bigger than 13 inch rims, but the ones he does do are a dream). http://www.mb-racingwheels.com/index.htm http://www.imagewheels.co.uk/
Pete
Strange fact of the day....At the moment I have the daughter of the bloke that setup Image wheels working for us. Well..he was the director. Mike Fones.
Chris Wilson
So can we expect a rim change on your car soon?
Pete
So can we expect a rim change on your car soon? I doubt it. Maybe I'll have to chat her up a bit and see how much influence he still has.
Nic
They don't fit... on two counts.. I need 5mm extra clearance which i have a plan to get, but more worryingly the centre hole is miles off... As Chris says most aftermarket wheels will have an oversize centre hole, basically so they can fit a whole range of different car models.
