It would also be nice to be able to set options on the New Posts button to only bring back parts of the forum you're interested in. For instance, I'd like to click New Posts at work and not have to read 6 pages of Off-Topic and only 1 page of useful stuff.

At home I'm happy to sit and read the Off-Topic stuff when I have more time.

Sounds like a good idea, which could be expanded for other narrower searches, that dont require going through the sites, not to hot, search facility

Thanks for reminding us things could be worse :)

Arrogant, abusive, and threatening behaviour online, couldn't type a word out the same way twice, thought he knew about cars and yet clearly didn't - turns out he was a c*nt in real life too! Who'd have thought ;) I had it marked down as dyslexia.

for what it's worth, i think we should try going for a month or two with the 'number of posts ' section of the profiles removed (If it's possible)... I get the feeling that a lot of people post crap just to raise their post count because they feel there social status will be raised on the forum (whether this is consciously or not)…

I kind of agree with Red here. It's beyond a joke the amount of complete cr*p posted in off topic now.

I think that the more people posting on the forum the better even if it is rubbish. What would you prefer a dead forum or a busy one?

If people don't want to read the threads no one is forcing them to do so. :search:

Might I suggest Red M just not click on the links if he doesn't want to waste his time?

p.s

What is going on with Michael and Matt H? - why do you guys always seem to be fighting? - Is it a love/hate thing?

Could be an idea. I'm sure it wouldn't stop most people, but it could be worth a trial run to see what effect it has.

Some of the threads have been amusing in the past but I agree that some are pointless. Perhaps a rate this thread function should be added or even a rate this post etc. Some of the members would have minus credibility.

But on the flip side you could just mark the thread as read or simply just ignore them

Having read yet another pointless thread IMO, I am going to add my 2p worth of opinion for anyone that cares or not.

The "off topic bit" suggests it's just that and yeah some stuff seems to be utter nonsense but then I always tell myself this "If I have nothing nice or constructive to add or I don't like the topic I just keep my trap shut and don't add to it

My mother taught me that if you have nothing useful or nice to say don't say anything at all.

So as a summery: If you think a thread is bullcrap why not ignore it rather then the slanging matches that seem to be going on here at the moment. Feels like kindergarten some days on here.

Rant over. "I wait patiently for people to rip me to bits now" ;)

PS: I couldn't give a crap how big or small my post count is

To be serious for a minute I was thinking that it'd be good to have some kind of subscription mode (similar to subscribing to a thread) that allows one to choose which sections they see when hitting 'New Posts'.

For example: A tech-minded Supra nut might choose to subscribe to only Technical and Supra Chat. Clicking New Posts would show then only the threads and posts from their preferred sections. That way when they are looking for the thread 'Help my cars on fire' they don't have to read all the titles like 'Breathe In, Breathe Out: Which one shall I do next?' or 'Here's some pics of me drunk'.

If they did want to venture into Off Topic then they'd have to get there from the forum list.

Mawby, if you read this. Is there a plug-in that would allow this?

One more thing: Thanks for the new sig, Carl.
