Going veggie.

Well, that is easy one then.....

Get yourself some frozen stir fry mixed veggies from iceland/tesco/asda. Some chicken breast/frying steak or whatever. Tiny bit of olive oil in a wok. Job done. Home done stir fry. Don't use an MSG based sauce. :p

More indepth recipe for those who need quantities

You god you. Thank you.

Why not try the veggie thing Carl and see how you go?

I personally love eating blood infused meat round campfire's with naked men and women.

Lol! Yeah, I could try it after all. Need to eat the rest of the meat in the fridge though. Since im building muscle in the gym, going to need my protein. Seems a bit of a shame that it has to come from fungus (quorn).

The best reason I've heard for becoming vegetarian was:

"I'm not a vegetarian because I love animals. It's because I hate plants."

:D :D

Very nice. I'll quote that. Or steal it. ;)

Ground nut oil for the authentic stir fry flavour and it has a high smoke point without burning

The earth could not sustain an all veggie population, thats a fact

Using fresh herbs and spices to liven food up is a healthy way to keep food interesting, I am appaulled to read that your cooking is limited to only one dish :(, it is a sign of things to come with the supermarkets obsession with ready meals and bung in the oven stuff !

Jesus, an expert. I find it a shame to. Might take a college cooking course. But already got two courses on the go this month.

But cows and sheep and chickens would be extinct!!!

People who don't eat meat because it's 'cruel' are dumb IMO, how is it any less cruel to uproot a lettuce and eat it? The lettuce doesn't understand it's fate and neither does the cow, it's just going on instinct from minute to minute as is the lettuce.

LMAO!

I'm good at that, I was actually being serious this time though.

Well, scientists have proved that lettuces, as they have no brain do not have emotions etc and more importantly pain.

Whereas a cow (for example) experiences fear & pain.

A lettuce that is planted too close to another lettuce, well, it might not grow as well but it isn't suffering, whereas a cow cooped up with a million other cows getting crushed etc causes fear, panic, pain, and a certain form of depression.

I can't believe I'm getting into this. :D

Are you a fruitarian?

All true, but the way we in the UK generally (now) rear our animals that are due for eating is very good, they have nice pleasant lives, they have space and are fed well etc etc. I'm as against bad treatment of animals as the next person, but if they're brought up properly in accordance with the regs, what's the problem?

People on that 'kill it cook it eat it' programme were actually getting upset because the cow could see it's 'friend' hanging up dead, and it therefore got scared of what was coming - I mean seriously, do they believe that? Are people really stupid enough to think a cow has rational thoughts about it's future and what 'them humans' have in store for it? Absurd beyond belief.

The lettuce analogy is to show a different viewpoint to almost everyone else, see it from a different angle. If humans were locked up and force fed, until we were eventually led to slaughter to be eaten it'd obviously be horrible, because we have intelligence enough to understand that our freedom has been removed etc. Go down one level and we get the animals, what we do with them has no affect because they AREN'T intelligent enough to understand what we're doing to them. If, however, we were to cut off their legs and put them in the oven still alive I'm sure they'd be most distressed, and it wouldn't be very nice. Now we go down one more level to vegetables, they're quite happy to have their 'bottoms' removed and be chucked in a pot of boiling water, because they have even less intelligence than the cow.

Blame disney and other animal animation.

I think the lettuce analogy is a stupid one.

The fact a Cow can see it's friend being killed would distress it. I can vouch for this on one level, having seen horses reactions to seeing their 'friend' horse dead.

It's not to do with rationalising and humanising thoughts, it's an instinct that instills fear.

A lettuce doesn't have eyes so it can't see the other lettuces :D

I presume you know that protein can be found in things that aren't made of meat?

It shouldn't be too tricky :)

Are you going to be a proper veggie or a fish murdering one? ;)

Are you OK with dairy foods?

Have you done any research on this at all or will each meal involve you posting up here for help as you do with everything else you do in your life? ;)

And many more...

Useful links Michael thanks :)

I would be a fish murderer if i did it.

Fine with dairy.

Thats it I think. My brother is a semi veggie too, again for health reasons. As usual, I'm not sure if I should take the leap. To be honest I think now is not a good time to make a drastic change like that.

Big step not eating meat, its not realy natural - but if you feel that way then go for it fella .

Exactamundo.

So don't get too het up about it - if it's a health thing then just give it a whirl. If you eat meat the odd day then don't sweat over it. Overall if you think it will benefit you health wise then it will still do that even if it's just a lesser amount.

Just inquiring, more curious if anything. Actually it was going to be a poll LOL, are you vegetarian, or omnivore, but decided against it lol. Quality control stepped in. :) Also it seems fashionable, and might get me more street cred. But, I think I have to really want to do it deep down, or its just pointless and fake. :)

I was a veggie for 1 year. As a man, it is VERY hard to get enough protein. If your carrying any decent muscle mass, either say bye! Or get used to a lot of diet supplements!

I think it can be a healthy diet for a women, but not a man (hey, as Un-PC as it is, there are HUGE differences there).

What is your reasoning?
