Gaz Walker
run by nuns so it was a similar thing really. ...what, full of lesbians?
Carl_S
I can second that! Durham is a lovely place, but full of people who look down their nose on a night out. Although, not all people who go to private schools are snobs. There are some nice people.... you just have to find them. x When you say snob, what exactly is that? Does is just mean middle class? Or are there working class snobs? Also, does chav just mean working class, or does it mean low intelligence working class? I went to a private school till 11 - when my parents divorced and we moved towns. I can't say really there was a drastic amount of difference between the private and state schools (well except the lack of lesbians) but my mum sent us to a (state) Catholic school run by nuns so it was a similar thing really. Why are you interested to know? I'm interested in people, and finding out how common my experience is with others. Sorry to hear about your folks splitting up. Although I'm sure it's a long time ago for you now.

Lbm
I went to a Grammar School...burnt it down, after a short spell in Prison, I saw the error of my ways. Turns out a good education is not a bad thing! This is the first and last time I come back from the Pub and interfere with the Forum
ivan
Same as Michael for me; Public boys only Grammar School. Left at 15 with 5 O Levels because I couldn't stand the thought of staying any longer.
Carl_S
so then its a fact. there are more old boys and girls (ex public school pupils here) than in the general population... hmm, wonder what effect that has on the forum. And if it effects the obession with spelling and punctuation. (although there hasn't been much of that around lately - which is nice.) I think i was just very unlucky, id hope there are very few schools like my first one! I dont think the teachers were trained at all, justa group of old women who met up every week day to look after a load of children!
