ADL Mark
One for the techie guys.. I've got a Toshiba laptop with Vista that I want to dual boot to XP. It all looks easy enough and I've got XP, the only problem is the instructions I've read say I need the Vista DVD which the laptop didn't come with. It only had one of those crumby restore DVD's with it and I can't find it. These were the instructions I was looking at - http://apcmag.com/5485/dualbooting_vista_and_xp - I didn't know if I could either download the DVD from somewhere or use a different boot loader modifier to change the boot records and recover Vista booting? Any ideas gratefully received Cheers all!
Pete
If Vista came preinstalled on your machine and you don't have a Vista install DVD, you can use the Gnome Partition Editor Gparted to do it. Our earlier tutorial on dual-booting XP and Vista if you've installed XP first describes how to use it So if you just download Gparted Live CD from the link you can use that instead. ADL Mark
I'm a bad boy for not reading properly Thanks Pete, sorry for being a muppet!
ADL Mark
Ah, just been reading through it properly before I do it, and that's for changing the partitions which I've already done from within Vista. This is the bit I'm going to have the problem with - Boot from the Vista DVD and on the screen where you’re prompted to “Install now”, select “Repair your computer”.
