peter richards
a friend of mind was doing 80 on the m4 late last night , pc plod was sat in his car on a bridge , my friend was wondering if its likely he will get nicked , thanks peter:)
Snooze
Unlikely at 80, I would have thought. Especially if that was an 80-reading on his speedo (which probably equates to 75ish on the road).
Pete
It depends. What colour underpants was he wearing that day? If his speedo said 80 he was probably only doing 72 anyway. (edit, I see the post above agrees)
dangerous brain
If they didn't go after him then I doubt it. The ones on the bridges use vascar don't they and then signal ahead to another motor or go after the ofender themselves??

Havard
Coppers tend to have an unwritten rule that 80 on a motorway is ok! 85 - 90 and you are FUBAR!! *waits for stories of people being done for 79mph* H.

peter richards
it was a car on one of the small flyovers just after the road works
Class One
it was a car on one of the small flyovers just after the road works I expect he'll just be monitoring. If it was a camera van (which don't operate at night) then they'll set the limit at 79mph and anyone over, expect an NIP. You're average marked Traffic car on a bridge would use their discretion and 80mph wouldn't attract their attention. The only way of really knowing is the 2 week wait but IMO I would say he's ok. Class One
You got done @78 jesus thats harsh. What ever happend to 10% + 2 Doesn't exist anymore. ACPO have been given a zero tolerance policy, but only some have adopted it. Most still use 10% + 2mph.
lewysdanny
Hey Pete, glad to see you and Jean got back safe and sound. Dont give it a second thought about the speed thing as most traffic only sit in these places to show a presence in the area. Got to be a bad basta-d to do anything for doing 80 . Jan says she loved giving her gums a good work out, talking to Jean . Hope to see you both soon lewysdanny aka Tim

Fifty
my wife said to me sombrely "I think I have been caught speeding!" so what I said, she said she had gone past a police car in a laybay and he looked at her - she admits to me she was doing 39 in a 30 sweet girl he was obviously holding his doughnuts at the time Rich
