I know, I know this isn't a bike forum but today I couldn't resist it I had to buy myself a very early birthday present, a brand new Triumph 1050 Speed Triple. Delivery is next week!! I can't wait. It's the only excuse I've got for wearing leather.

I had to Google it to see what a speed triple looked like . . .

One of those ?

Very nice! :jealous:

What made you buy one at this time of year though? I take it you're an experienced biker, right?

I love naked streetfighters. I can't be bovvered with sitting perched on a sports bike with my knees pressed im my ribs. I got a good deal on a new 2007 model because it's winter and Triumph have got cosmetically modded 2008 out. (new wheels, paint options and trim. I love biking. It's the nearest to flying 2 feet off the ground. Drive your Supe and stick your head out of the window for a fraction of what biking is about.

Please take it easy on these roads...

I've just got a CBR900 that was dropped on the bad roads, they look lethal out there for our two wheeled friends.

Too right! I am THE fair weather biker. And a fair weather Supe driver. But having said that regardless of season, if it's dry, and not too windy then it's on with the Dainese and a lid. :p

Care to share your experiences? I haven't ridden a modern superbike for some time.

My poor old FireBlade has sat unused in the garage for the last 3 years :(

i have now gone supermoto but i still ride my brothers 05 zx10 around when he lets me :eyebrows:, i havent riden the triple but a mate that works opposite me has one, he says its ideal, looks trick i thought

Go down yer local Trumpet dealer and book a test ride. The Street is nice but you'll only trade up to a Speed Triple, Superduke or Tuono. I know this is heresy but sometimes when I'm riding motorbikes, I wonder why I even have a Supe.

best not for me to get another sports/tourer bike, the reason i sold my zx6 was every time we went out it turned in to a massive race, a dangerous one too. just couldent help myself. my supermoto will only do about 100mph (on a private track) and i dont go out with the nutters on sports bikes as i can only keep up on twistys

I know exactly what you mean. On twisties I am king on my Hornet but on the straights my mates Fireblade leaves me for dust. Anybody can go fast in a straight line.

thats the problem, if ever theres a long, straight, private road it seems to be 155 all the way. not good. supermotos the way forward, i put spuddies on at weekends and nail it throug the woods and green lane it
