What Nuttynutz said basically.

Depends how concerned you are about handling.

19s definately look better and alot of people on here have them with no problems.

But from what ive gathered 17s provide optimal performance from the car.

Personally I went with 18s as a compromise between looks and handling as apparantly it doesnt affct the handling too much while filling out the huge supra arches a bit better than the 17s.

I Currently have a set of 19" on my UK Supra TT - I am selling the car and was toying with the idea of selling the alloys seperately therefore being able to sell the car a little cheaper - They cost around £2000 and are only 9 months old. Personally haven't noticed much difference in the ride/handling -

Probably bcos i drive like an old granny :)

Is there more people that have 19" wheel on the mkiv that can tell me how it is so it´s not getting me into trouble later with things on the car that will brake and so on,..

The car's geometry and suspension is all set up for 17's and the stock profile of tire. As soon as you step outside this package you compromise handling. I use stock 17 for winter use and a 3piece 18 for summer as they still have a reasonable profile to take up the bumps. Remember the MKIV is heavy and it is easy to ding a 19 in a pot hole due to the small distance between rim and road. I guess it is down to want you want looks or performance and handling.

I have 19" on my car but i`d rather have 18". The 19s look good but after only have the car two minutes and hitting a small pothole and writing off a tyre, i can tell you it`s soul destroying. 30 profile on the back just leaves you open to knackering a tyre and maybe even a wheel. Can get expensive. I only have them because they were already on the car and i can`t afford 18" technospeeds. As for handling i think you`d only notice the difference on a track as on the road i can`t fault it.

I have 19"s and standard brakes. Doesnt feel much different, but u do notice the imperfections in the road a bit more. Looks the business when u pass and glance at yourself in a big glass shop window though

Can u tell me the dimension on the tires u use?

for example 265/30/19

Regards

I have 19s on standard jap brakes.

Used to have 17s and cant say i've noticed much difference in handling.

Tyres used are 275/30/19 and 235/35/19.

With the low profile tyres it is very easy to kerb the wheels (done it going into my driveway?!) so be careful there, but then i have the mania pacifics and the front wheels go out past the arch and tyre so just asking for trouble really!

19's for me, i am sure having wheels this big does effect handling and there is more chance of damaging the wheel but what the heck. 19's look much better and in all honestly, for everyday normal driving, I dont think bigger wheels will make that much of a differnce unless your a rally/race driver.

Go with 19's, a liitle more money but alot more looks.
