cheekymonkey
My EGT sensor has been unreliable since it was installed, and I think the problem is at the yellow plug in the cabin, since when I bend it over itself the problem goes away. I therefore suspect a loose or otherwise dodgy connection in the yellow plug (See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Thermocouple0003.jpg for what I am talking about) Can this be snipped off, stripped and re-wired like a normal wire without screwing things up? Chris Wilson
That's a standard format K type thermocouple plug, you can buy them from RS Components, Maplins et cetera, and yes, you should be able to re terminate the wire. DO NOT shorten it any more than necessary though. I believe the lead length is part of the overall calibration.
cheekymonkey
Excellent, I'll give that a go. Calibration was my main worry but 1cm or so isn't going to break the bank is it. Cheers
Chris Wilson
Unless you cut a few feet off it you'll have no problems. http://uk.rs-online.com/web/search/searchBrowseAction.html?method=getProduct&R=4559972
cheekymonkey
Gaah, confused! Are the metal conductors within the sheathed cable supposed to be touching inside the sheath? That doesn't seem to make sense to me. It's hard to see without much light, but I've basically cut the end off. I can't now see how to strip the metal sheath down. Doh!
