Q:

The garage 'sorting' my Soop out has just replaced the

Airbag Collision Sensor. ( = airbag warning light, 1 of many faults )

{ SUPPOSEDLY imported from Jap' - maybe/maybe not ? usual story ? }

Where is it ? What does it look like ? (any ideas how much ? )

:stupid:

[ because, I will want to check a new one's been fitted when I get it back,

to make sure they've actually done SOMETHING ! :sly: ]

Yours, "mistrusting-swine", Steve W.

Ahhh that is an inertia sensor used for the airbags and also the ABS i believe. There are also two airbag sensors at the front of each wing and if i remember rightly you can see these if you remove the wheelarch liners.

Have a look at the attached.

I wonder how it managed to end up there.

Oh yeah the ones in the front wings are usually bright yellow, for an obvious reason.

They ran out of red paint and they only had yellow left....

So, I take it that the one under the 'arm-rest' is the inertia (motion),

and the ones in the wings are 'proper' impact ?

It will be interesting to find out which (if any ? ) they have replaced !

[it would also be interesting to find out if any/all of those front-ender smashes - on that Exotic Right-Off sight - actually 'set-off'

the wing sensors.... if not, what use are they ? ]

MY guess is that if either of the wing sensors is going backwards (or even slowing down) while the central sensor is going forwards then the airbgas go off - similar to the ABS sensors where the difference in wheel speeds is more important than the actual speed. You could always try shaking one really hard to see what happens? ;)
