Sean1933
Where did you go? Which resort and hotel? Stayed in Norida Beach (Mitsis Hotels) just outside Kardamena. We rented a car with some people we met and went to Kos town, Thermes, abd tht tiny town in the mountains with the awesome views. The hotel reception was really nice, the pools + beach were ok, but the rooms were TERRIBLE. I had to wedge the balcony doors shut at night to stop the wind wistling through them and blowing them open! Plus next doors room could see into our room (balcony was 2 foot away from ours!) so we had to always keep the blinds closed. Nightmare. Apart from that it was a great holiday! CJ
The mountain village would be Zia - stunning views eh? Kardamena is probably not the best part of the island. The harbour etc is very pretty but the resort really does cater for the groups of young lads and lasses who couldn't give a hoot about the hoptels per se as long as they can get pissed! If you ever fancy going again give me a shout and I can put you in touch with some nice hotels in Tingaki which is where I live.

Yea the hotels there looked shocking. But the one we were in had 5* on the doors, and was a few miles away on the beach. Place was 90% full of Germans which didnt help, had a massive row over sunbeds, was so funny! Thanks for the offer mate, might have to take you up on that one day. Chris and Alana
Hi Jurgen me and Vicky go to Puerto Rico in Gran Canaria a lot. We've been 3 times in the last 5 years. We go there exactly for the reasons you have stated. It's not full of idiots, but there is still enough going on etc. Beatiful place too. We always stay on the hill side/top as it's a bit quieter. There's a commercial centre at the top which is a short walk, and a bigger centre at the bottom which is about a 4 euro taxi ride. I'll dig you a few photo's out. I would say Puerto Rico in Gran Canaria has to be one of the nicest places we have been to aswel Lovely beaches and plenty to do. We are going there again this summer (4th time in a row). The weather is always hot and sunny (dont know about march though) and you seem to feel safe their . I spoke to one of the local taxi drivers their who spoke good english and he said Puerto Rico is his faveroute place on the island to work because people just want to have a good time and relax, you dont get any idiots causing trouble. (taxi's are cheap aswel) There are lots of bars and restaurants but no night clubs as such. For a couple it's brilliant. Also from all the appartments we stayed in and the ones we visited where are friends were staying I would say the 'Riosol' and the 'Terraza Mar' were by far the best we have seen. We also find direct holidays and mytravel the cheapest too book with.

I went in May last year, it was 30 degrees most of the day, although quite cool at night (still t-shirt weather though). I preferred it much more to when I have been in August/September, when I find it too hot. We stayed at the Altamar twice, nice clean hotel, with the views you see in the pictures, although the lifts up and down the hill are amusing at first, but tedious after the novelty's worn off. But we returned after the first time so that says it all really. We also stayed in the Puerto Azul the first time we went again nice hotel, awesome view over the Puerto Rico beach/harbour, pretty much like the ones you see in the first set of pics. But a little boy drowned in the pool whilst we were there, so it put Vicky off after that. He dived in apparently, smashed his face on the shallow bottom, and then broke his jaw through his windpipe. He was dead as soon as he did that apparently, the only way he could have been saved if he was in hospital. Everybody had a big collection for him, and his mother was given about £1500, but obviously that was little consolation when you are flying your Son home in a box. AndyT
we lived in lanzarote and owned a bar up to 2006, its like a ghost town, no-one hardly goes there due to the prices (you can get a last minute deal cheap enough), Puerto del Carmen used to be the best place but its gone really downhill fast because most travel companies are going to Playa Blanca or Costa Teguise as they have recently built them up and made it a nice new "concrete jungle" if you still want to go to the Canaries i would stay well away from Tenerife (north and south) and go to Corellejo (spelt wrong) in Fuertaventura (also spelt wrong) as its cleaner, friendlier, quiet but not like a ghost town and none of the usual "union jack shorts and vomit laden football shirted chav brigade" that you get on the other islands. just off topic if i was looking to go anywhere i would go back to Cuba (7/14 nights all inclusive for the same price as he canaries, ive just booked for May:d) hope this helps, but wherever you go have a nice time:d Just done it 09. Brilliant place. On topic again Gran Canaria is favourite.
Tourniquet
I vote for Gran Canaria in Palya Del Ingles. I went in December a few years back and it was touching 32 the whole time. Beautiful place and we managed to stay in the GC Princess there which is lush. If you go might I suggest you do as many of the excursions as you can especially scuba diving and even if you don't, make a trip to Pourta Rico Bay. Excuse the spellings but I'm doing it phonetically lol
outatime
I went to Corralejo (fuerte) every winter for 8 years for the surfing, and worked a couple of summers there. It is 5 times the size it used to be, but still the best town in most unspoilt of the bigger islands. I wouldn't be to keen to go now, having seen it change so much. It will be very quiet in March except for surfers and retired couples, but you are 99% guaranteed good weather. If you do go to Fuerte, do not go for 'allocated on arrival' accomodation unless it specifies the town, as you will probably end up in the purpose built tourist 'town' of Caleta De Fuste. Corralejo is bigger, but still has a bit of charm around the old Canarian harbour. As far as the other islands, Playa Blanca in Lanzarote is not bad. Again, has an older part around the harbour and the new marina has some nice restaurants and shops. Gran Canaria and Tenerife were ruined years ago, but both have spectacular scenery if you head off the beaten track.
