RIGHT i have a paypal account setup with my direct debit bank account, normally when i pay via paypal although i have no cash in the paypal account it automatically makes an instant payment and my bank account is debited.BUT recently i have made a couple of payments via paypal and it comes up as echeque payment which clears in 7/10 days.

is there a way i can remove echeque payment option from my paypal acount.

hope that makes sense:rolleyes:

Don't think you can totally remove it but:

Have you added a credit card to your account? If so when you make a payment you can choose to use the credit card option. When you send a payment you will see a little box which states 'more funding options'. if you click on that you can change from echeque to credit card etc. I think this also might work for just using your bank account.

In my experience it is easier to use your credit card and transfer the money from your bank account to your credit card rather than let Paypal mess with your bank account. (this also has the added benefit of getting you points/cash back etc if your credit card has such a thing).

Get your debit card details off of PayPal bud. It just isn't good enough.

Top tip: always use a credit card on line.

i have never had a credit card, always use my debit card for everything. guess i need to apply for one:innocent:.

when i made the payments it did not say payment type ECHEQUE until the payment is made ?

i had this problem for weeks, i wrote to them and then got it sorted

its a new security and safety thing there doing

what you need to do is go onto your account

and go to become verified

then you need to add buisness info even tho you are not a business

i think its called merchant info

it only takes a few mins but if you get a problem just send em an email

I hate Paypal sooooooooo much - it is a bloody rip off and their fee's are unrealistic. Another ebay company too - i'm thinking monopoly here (not the board game!)..........

Also make sure your credit card is protected against fraud, although i think thats pretty standard in this day and age.

I got caught by this recently. We got 2 emails from paypal saying the credit card was about to expire, but when you visit the site it had no warnings so we assumed it was a spoofed email.

Then the credit card expired and suddenly all the xmas pressies we bought through ebay went to e-cheque with an 8 day payment.

What happens is they will usually debit from your bank account, but they know if the bank account fails they have a valid credit card and so can always get the money and so honour the immediate payment. Without the credit card they cant be sure the money will transfer and so do an e-cheque until you put in a valid credit card.

Paypal were hopeless when we asked them to back up the e-cheque payments so we could use paypal immediate payment on a new credit card.

If there was any other option I would refuse to use Paypal, but they basically bought out the market and are too dominant now.
