DBR
right the insurance companies are after my pound of flesh again!, has anybody come across any particully good priced quotes recently?. Also i was thinking of insuring as a classic car, not sure if i will qualify though? - 1995 UK spec I do under 3k a year (oh! and ive just reached the tender age of 25 ), im sure i remember a few guys/girls on here telling me they insure as a classic car. cheers in advance peeps
miko_supra
i thought it had to be over 15 years old to qualify for that
juanchan
Different companies have different requirements for what classifies as a classic car. I think AON have a minimum age of 10 years. Keep scouting round - Adrian Flux were the cheapest for me but Sky matched their quote for me.
philstowell
dont know if it helps but, performance direct, 600 fully comp 5 years no claims, at age 25? on an n/a with exhaust, wheels, and induction kit declared. moneysupermarket.com had all the companies making me offers to beat each other, good luck phill

Safely Insured
what are the benefits of insuring as a classic car? There are a few draw backs with classic policies as well... you dont build no claims, mileage must be limited, car kept in garage etc... Sky DO NOT insure Supras on classic policies so you must have the wrong end of the stick Ollie Sky Insurance

Paul372
i thought sky was the clubs insurer and offers you a discount if your a member, so how comes they are more exspensive than other insurers and are not very helpful and dont really try to match or better cheaper quotes
Safely Insured
Yes, I am, as important information wasn't passed onto me when taking my policy out I'm confused Ric and I have PM'd you asking for clarification. You quoted Edd who wrongly thought he was on a classic policy, and is actually building up a NCB, and we are pretty damn certain we wouldn't have mentioned he was on a classic policy as we do not do them for supras. Please PM me if you have issues with our service and I will be more thann happy to investigate. Regards Ollie Sky Insurance

WE SIMPLY CANNOT BEAT EVERY PRICE OUT THERE, if we could, we would be the only insurer in the country. we have many happy Mkiv supra club members on our books, so we must be doing something right. regards Ollie Sky Insurance
Paul372
you are the clubs insurer so you should be cheaper and competative and you do offer 20% discount for club member then how comes your more exspensive than other insurers that dont offer a 20% discount and are not the clubs insurer? all am saying is this is my experience, when i phoned you up for a quote you wasnt very helpful on the phone and i must say who ever i spoke to was abit rude and didnt try to match or beat my best qoute even though i told them i was a member on here and should get a 20% discount

tooquicktostop
I have one of my Supra's insured with Sky and found them to be very helpful and competative, it is not always about the cheapest price but the best possible service and Sky understand the true value of these cars, I remember trying to explain why my old Do Luck T78 car that was stolen was woth £17500 to Direct Line and it took forever for them to get it, I also think that some members have to remember it is a case of how they access your 'risk' and nothing personel but if you have the 'wrong' postcode or no NCB or are under 25 then the chances of them undercutting become less, if it were you placing the insurance would you be happy putting an inexperienced driver on your books who lives in a high risk area with no garage and has little or no NCB and drivers a high powered rear wheel drive Supra. i wound not

We have to assess the risks of each case. Fair enough we weren't your cheapest price, we accept that, please try us again next year and we may be more competitive. I apologise if you feel you were spoken to rudely, if any member experiences problems with our staff, let me know by PM straight away, we take this very seriously, our calls are recorded and we will not tolerate bad customer handling. If this was recent Paul, drop me a PM with your details and I will try and trace the call. We would always apply the discount to any club member, that doesn't guarantee that we will beat your best price else where... our competitors are always keen to take business away from us so will also offer you discounts as an incentive. Sky Insurance are the club insurer for a reason, we understand the cars very well and we have hundreds of Supras on our books. By only insuring drivers who we feel are low risk, we keep our claims stats down and this results in us keeping our prices consistently low. If we insured everyone, young drivers with no experience our claims stats accross the board would go up and we would have to bump up EVERYONE's premium.
