Stevie72
On a Private Track i hit 154mph and felt like there was a little more to go - so if it is limited to 156MPH does the Management system just cut the power, or does it happen gradually? I read on a site that UK TT's can logically do 168mph and some say could hit 180mph. Are the UK Model TT's actually limited????!!!!!
jamesmark
Iirc they are limited to 155mph
juanchan
Someone on here said that their UK hit the limiter at an indicated 168 or something - but the car was actually doing 155, as the limiter takes the speed from the gearbox I believe. Stevie72
It was 165+ on speedometer, but 154mph on GPS So surely it would go by the speedo? not GPS - or does the management system know how fast it is going???!!!!!!
Stevie72
PS mines totally stock (so doubt it's been de-limited) and if i had not run out of road, it felt like it would still pull - not much left though, it was going up 1or2mph every few seconds

Most speedos over-read. At Santa Pod my speedo was nearly at 110, yet my terminal velocity was officially about 100. The gearbox will be going round at a certain speed for the given gear you're in etc. The ECU presumably has all the ratios etc programmed in and knows when it hits 155. In that case - would it just suddenly cut the power off/ or would it be gradual? If the latter, then surely if you car is de-limited it would pull faster at higher speeds 140mph + ect? I just thought it wouldn't have let me pull so near to 155mph witouth a gradual loss of power?
Stevie72
In short it didn't take long to get to 154mph!!!! and i am pretty sure mine has not been de-limited!
juanchan
I think it just stops accelerating when it hits the limiter. I wouldn't have thought delimiting it would increase acceleration. I've never had mine that fast, so I honestly don't know! But yeah, even stock they don't hang around even at such speeds!
Stevie72
After i done it, i was like a little kid, i want more i want more, MORE POWER, i want to hit 180mph they all hype about ect ect!! Obviously only suitable for track!!!!!
juanchan
Remove the traction control fuse. Stock TC isn't exactly up the job, so no losses there, and removing it removes the limiter I think.

Correct. When you hit the limiter. It is similar to a rev limit but not quite as harsh.

Faye
Are the UK Model TT's actually limited????!!!!! Are you in a manual or auto? I think the auto's have a limiter on them, but not the manuals - I've had a GPS 160 out of a UK manual.
SteveR
Id be scared to go that fast anyway lol so i dont know, but id like to try one day! Unlike some other cars I've driven, the Supra doesn't feel scary at high speeds. Try it - on a track of course - you might like it
colsoop
I believe when they did a test of the us spec they managed 170 mph out of a stock car. They are geared for a theoretical 196 mph if you can extract enough power to get you there
juanchan
Nice one mate. Hope New Year wasn't to hazy bud. Cheers! NY didn't feel too hazy while I was there, but at 1.30pm yesterday when I finally woke up I felt a liiiiiittle worse for wear! Hope yours was a good one too! It's just a pity that my two favourite liquids, alcohol and petrol, aren't that compatible!

Jspec Germany
I have a track of autobahn behind my house that happens to be an unlimited section. Perhaps a 'go real fast' meet is in order this spring? There also happens to be two very nice bridges to film from.
