Jamesy W
Hi im looking to fit a front mount in the next few weeks and was wondering if anyone had bought one from xs power via Ebay? For £229 its tempting to just buy one but I thought Id ask what you all think?
Tones
theyre ok as far as i know, ive had 2 of these autobahn ones and theyre very good.http://www.flat4online.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?pName=ab88-front-mount-intercooler-toyota-supra-jza80&cName=supra-jza80-cooling
Jamesy W
Thanks bud, that looks spot on. Is there anything in particular you should look for when buying one?
Nic
The design of the end tanks is poor and they use a cheap core. The hard pipe hits the airbox, so only compatible with aftermarket induction kit. The end of the hard pipes doesn't have a beaded lip, so they are prone to blowing off. They may 'look' like a equivalent Japanese branded FMIC, but there will be a difference in terms of quality and performance. You get what you pay for IMO. dandan
The ones I've seen do have beaded ends on the pipes. The end tank design is not great - agreed but neither is it that good on the Blitz LM V spec - see attached. The core is bar and plate - very strong and resilient to road debris (compared to a tube and fin) but internally the entry and exit to passages through the core is not streamlined at all. It will be better than a tired sidemount especially if ducted and sealed properly but as Nic said - say bye bye to your stock airbox. Sean1933
I will have one of these for sale in the next week or so ...somehow i ended up with 2!
Jamesy W
Ok thanks for the help, Iv already replaced the air box a while back with a powertec induction kit so no problems there. Its gotta be better than the standard side mount like you said though.
Wez
Its gotta be better than the standard side mount like you said though. Only if your SMIC is old and knackered.
magictorch
I have one of these to fit on as well, im going to try and duct it properly and see how it goes. My SMIC is pretty shagged..lol
Jamesy W
im not sure wat kind of state mines is in, but I just like the look of a front mount. Was just wondering if a cheap one would effect performance as much as say a HKS or Greddy one?
Reesen
And what max effect you could expect to put throug a XS fmic!?

Buy the xs or the AB one i had from flat4online, great value for money, for standardish-bpu sups they will work perfect, not sure how good on a single turbo but they say theyre good for 600bhp. the fit is good and they look ace, see pic attached of my white one and my friends black supra also with the autobahn 88 fmic
Antnicuk
I'm looking for a FMIC, I have never had a problem with an XS power one on my rx7. My stock Supra one has no fins left , how much do you want for the spare kit if no one has dibs on it?
dandan
Does anyone have a 4" thick core they want to sell?

Nic
If you want a budget FMIC, I'd go for the GReddy Spec M.

Tones
If you want a budget FMIC, I'd go for the GReddy Spec M. Not taking anything away from the greddy or the hks units as i would normally go for these brands but to be honest nic the autobahn 88 one is pretty good value for money
