UK Brakes conversion

Recommended Posts

I did the fronts a couple of years ago and now need new rear discs and pads, so I'm planning to do the UK conversion. Apart from a back-plate to remove are there any other issues. I have the part numbers.

Hopefully just the one. Locating the handbrake shoes are 2 pins, springs and washers. These sometimes get damaged when you remove the rear disc assembly. They look cheap enough, so it may be worthwhile to have a couple of sets standing by. Cant think of anything else.

The backplates do need removing and sadly they're not held on with bolts like the fronts, they're riveted. So, you either need to drill them, or take a hammer to the rivets.

I chose the hammer... It's more therapeutic :D

As Gordon says, br carful with the rear brakes. It makes life far easier if you slacken the adjusters right off.
