Sky broadband kit purchased, router has ethernet cable...is there an adaptor available to connect ethernet cable to computer phone line socket ? Is it even possible ? JustGav Posted December 31, 2007 Share Posted December 31, 2007 What is with the phone line? If the phone line is connected to the router, job done... no need to touch it again. What you are after is a way to connect the router to the PC either via an ethernet lead or wireless. Assumption here is that the PC and router are in different rooms. Wireless solution is probably the easiest, however if the win98 makes has a network card already, then perhaps get a homeplug solution which uses your 240v wiring as the network backbone. Thanks very much re the cables Gav but the computer in question is 30 miles from me at the in-laws. I've talked to Maplins just now, they have a card that will do it as long as in-laws have a spare pci slot. I'll happily take your card though if you are ok with that. Or make sure that whatever you do ends with a satisfying "KZZZRRRT!" noise, allowing you to claim total hardware failure, so they might as well get an up to date system. They have been given a free computer by a friend...it works ok, just a little old. Besides, I get a feeling of omnipotence dealing with folk that know even less about computers than I do.
