People outside of Yorkshire speak really funny...

I'm sure we deduced a while back that being from Baaaaarnsley is a setback not a flirting highlight ;)

im from leeds but live in sussex - do I have to fight myself?

I'm from Chester (vaguely northern) and live down south. My northern mates think I sound like a southern fairy and my southern mates all think I speak northern :(

Can't please everyone! :)

Now that was funny.

I must admit the Baaaarnsley accent is a bit wierd, if not a bit backwards sounding. It is awful when you hear the accent and you cannot tell if it is a man or a women without looking at them, even then it is a tall order.;) :p

Ah up thank goodness our Luke aint like that, he's a cocker. I think thats how it goes.:innocent:

:D Thats somthing that annoys me... people who are not from Barnsley pronounce it Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarnsley and when they do pronounce it like that, they make themselves look like idiots ;)

Now that was funny.

Funny you should say this. Been in Scotland a year now and have never had anyone (to my face) give me any hassle for being English the Scots are very nice people. They have good humour and like a good laugh.

Funny thing was I went on a night out over the boarder in Carlise and was called a cockney .........

Now I have never lived in London and sound nothing like a cockney (spending 20 years in the Midlands) but thats Carlise for you. :D

my ex gf was form lancs, she had a cute dialect. Instead of saying "Coke" she would say "Cuuuuke"

every "O" was an extended "U". arw bless. used to rip it out of her all the time

You should have got her to say "Are you coming up to my house?".

Lancs translation = "Are you cummin up me ar*e" :D

I heard lankashire and yorkshire folk dont like each other, same with the north and south, is there any truth in this at all? I like everyone, but some accents i cant stand

There is no such place as Lankashire, There's Lancashire which is next door to Yorkshire and we only hate scum (Man U) or Lanarkshire in Scotland.:)
