Horse Forum rules

I'm still trying to mend my horse and seeing as the vets have failed (at my huge expense) I thought I'd try and find a horse forum and join up- was reading through some of the rules before signing up and some of them amused me in that "I know how that can go.." kinda way...

One for Jake...

"To ensure your post is easily readable by all participants on the forum please avoid the use of internet shorthand or slang."

"Avoid typing in all capitals as this is considered as "shouting" and therefore rude."

"When joking with other members it helps to avoid misunderstandings by adding a smiley to your post."

"Please be polite to other site members at all times and do not swear."

Ahh, the pain and expense of vets! Possibly the MOST useless people about, and a stunning lack of basic knowledge (what the fcuk do they do for the 5yrs training?), the amount of times I have had to explain things to vets etc etc, and then the amount of money they charge for the pleasure!

The one good vet I found has now left for York, leaving me with a vet who is scared of dogs! FFS! :banghead:

All the best finding a good one for your horse, they are few and far between!

Sorry to here taht he is still unwell.

Have you tired alternative medicine? I.e herbology, raiki? I know a good lady who does reiki. I have a friend whom as a mental stallion and she had spiritual heeling/reiki done on him and he has clamed down a lot, well he’s not attacking himself anymore and he manner is a lot better. It’s respiratory right? And you’ve been following all the norm routs. Have they looked at asthma? And they defiantly say it’s not COPD. There has been a flu bug going round two.

A vet that don’t know how to take a horses rug off, or was he just sacred to do so? I had one like that. Was great with treating the animal but as soon as it came to taking rugs off or badges he went a bit funny.

Anyway good luck with him.

No, it's a skin condition- he's covered in scab things. I am considering some sort of alternate medicine but I've been down that route before after hearing people rave and it didn't do anything for my horse.

No, she wasn't scared she actually said "how do these work then?"

LOL at the vet.

Just found this by putting skin condition in horse into google

http://nd.essortment.com/horseshealthpr_rmha.htm. or

http://www.petalia.com.au/templates/storyList.cfm?specie=Horses&category=71

http://www.xcodesign.com/aaep/rounds/displayTopics.cfm?cat=27

They say Homeopathy is good for skin condition.

I know you will/would of looked into everything.

If you like I can try and get hold of a stud I know in dorset that run courses in herbology, aroumortherapy, macularskeletor ect.

Have you tried http://www.thehorse.com/AdvancedSearch.aspx?tbKeyword=&submit.x=18&submit.y=7 they have thousands of articles on equine health which I've found very useful for my lot..

I wont get started about vets - oh all right I will - 99% are useless tossers who know less than I do and the 1% that do know their sh1t are so up themselves as to not be worth talking to anyway - this has nothing to do with the £1000 vet bill I've just had to pay for a minor injury to my jumpers suspensery - and get this when teh vet came back to rasp his teeth he looked at ( I mean glanced at) the then healed leg and says "oh that's looking fine now" and then I get a bill for £30 to "re-examine leg" - piss take or what!

Ooo interesting. No they haven't, they tested for it it was negative but apparently that doesn't mean anything. If it is it's the non-infectious kind as none of the others have it, no people have it and nor does the young dog (who would be very prone) We'll see what this new vet reckons...
