Ewen
Good call. It seems to have been almost totally forgotten in recent times. Nice to see someone recognise it. Vast scope and imagination, originally sat on my fathers book shelves, alongside the Gormenghast trilogy. The interest rubbed off. I love the Beatles and Bruch for similar reasons. Tannhauser
Nice to see someone recognise it. Likewise. In fact, apart from yourself, I've only ever come across one other person who has read it. It's been 20 years or more since I read it, but it did leave an impression on me. I enjoyed the Gormenghast books, too - your Dad must like his gothic novels.
