Chris Wilson
Started when I moved a bale of silage for the cattle on the tractor this morning. There's an overhanging tree branch near the feeding ring, and I have been meaning to lop it for weeks, but it always gets put off. Needles to say this time the loader caught it and flicked it back hard into my face. Much blood and I thought it had torn my left eyelid. Finished the job, and by now I could see sod all through that eye. Went in, washed up and had a look, only to find my eyeball was gashed open. Went to the quacks and the doctor said another couple of mm more to the centre of the eye and I'd have probably have lost my sight. Got some potions and painkillers and to say it hurts like hell is an understatement. Then the central heating oil lorry arrives, with the driver in a hurry. He decides to stand on an old Skyline block to get at the oil tank filler, and manages to tip it off a pallet, onto me, and gash my leg open with the corner of it. So I am now like Long John Silver and in a great shape and mood for Christmas. Could have been a lot worse, and a timely reminder not to take risks with your eyes. I think I'll lop that branch first thing tomorrow, without fail

bignum
Take it easy chris, most accidents happen over the christmas holidays, i`m planning on having a bit of a rest, are you having much time off?
Chris Wilson
Time off? What's that then? Jane has only a minimal amount of time off, and I have work backed up, car wise, and enough jobs to do around the house and animal compounds to keep me going into the summer, so I will have a bit of a relax, but still try and do a bit each day. Hopefully this eye business won't hamper me too much, but I now have an excuse if something doesn't fit Cheers!

jim_supra
Ouch Chris, I'm wincing and squirming just thinking about how much it must have hurt. You were lucky not to do more damage, but overall, luck wasn't on your side today methinks. Hope it's all better soon.

He obviously HADN'T sliced his head off at all!? Sounds like a rough day Chris, I'd stay inside with pillows wrapped around me for the rest of the day. Have you got a patch on your eye then? SteveR
owch!! Sounds like you were lucky - again! Didn't you nearly chop your hand/fingers off not so long ago too Chris? Sods law I suppose - spend all day surrounded by dangerous (and not so dangerous) animals, and it's the engines and trees that jump out and bite you! lol
Mike B
Ouch Chris, sounds like a day you could quite happily have spent in bed. maybe the new years resolution will be heath and safety. Still when I mashed myself 3 months ago I took out a lottery subscription, just trying to give karma the correct outlet is it cheeky to ask that you not chainsaw your head off until you finish my car? James It won't stop me working, it's just *&^%$ sore I'll try and avoid cutting any appendages off just for you Mike, too! I do need to use the chainsaw soon, got a bit of felling to do, but given my eye might not like a load of sawdust in it right now, I'll leave it for a bit.. Thanks for the sympathy folks. I did have a patch on, Pete, but it was so damned annoying and irritated more than without, so it came off.
