I currently have an N/A (J-spec 93). I have also liked the triptronic gearbox`s and yes obcourse it never beats a manual but hay i just like them (i actually have a triptronic alfa 156 aswell).

I know there is a VVTI model with triptronic but has anyone heard or knows of someone that has had a conversion done/ pros cons and if it is even possible?

It won't be easy...

The gearbox on the VVTi is controlled by the same ECU as the engine. You could in theory put two ECU's in and just feed signals to the VVTi gearbox, but then you will have all sorts of niggles... such as the retardation during shift change.

Have a look at something like suprastick which gives you something similar using your original box.
