The Office Thief

What with all the CCTV stuff thats been on this forum thought id share my little story.

Used to work in an office in newbury (berkshire) with basically all my mates, anyway i often used to leave loads of food and snacks on desk over night (cos im a fatty) lol.

Anyway every night some would go missing, it became a running joke and i figured the lads were simply taking the mickey. One day after weeks of theifing i ordered a pinhole style USB camera off ebay and downloaded some motion activated recording software.

The stage was set, hidden inside an empty coke can and inbetween the screen and the base unit the camera was stashed and left recording over night.

To my shock, it was the very person stealing my food who was supposed to be there to protect everything, the Security Guard LOL. The video caught him helping himself to my snacks and grapes, caught like a mouse in a trap.

The evidence was forwarded with a rather snotty email to HR, which promptly followed with the security guard in question getting the sack!:D

Harsh and i did feel guilty but it just wasnt right........

Nice story fella :)

We had a similar problem many years ago at an old company I used to work for. They had this pot plant, big old thing it was, nice and healthy and perked up the drawing office up a treat. One day a new drawing office manger was employed and for a while everying was fine........until the plant started wiltering.

It looked worse and worse as the days went on, regually watered, fed religously and generally well looked after by all in the office but it continue to deteriorate. It became a talking point in the office, everyone loved their big almost dead pot plant. It was decided to film the plant over a few days to see if anything happend.

Turns out the new drawing office manager was staying behind at night to catch up on work and he couldnt be bothered to go downstairs to use the toilet, you can guess thge rest!

It's always the security guard. We had laptops, petty cash, food, etc disappear when a new guard started. It was fairly obvious as nothing disappeared before he arrived. He even edited the CCTV tape so that there was no evidence of the Ford Transit that came to cart off the IT server. He was the only person who could do it. Turned out he only been released off death row and had a record as long as Elvis.
