eyefi
i want to measure the charge air temp, pre intercooler and post intercooler. is there a kit to do this in 1 neat package. ive already lost both my eyball vents to gauges and i dont want a cabin full of dials. is it also possible to measure any cooling effect of water spray. the water spray jet fits in the throttle body so can u probe far enough away, after the jet, to get a good reading. its not imperative this data is right in my line of sight and very easy to read at a glance, like boost or egt. i already have the apexi el2 gauge system with master controller, and this is what ill add to if something else is no better. thanks in advance
THOR Racing
I have just the thing...... One of the range/family of new graphical products I've just developed is a multi-functional temperature display unit. It will display 5 channels of temperature, These can be calibrated by the user to be across any temp range from 0C->1024C So you can have .... 1: Pre Intercooler Air Temp (Post Turbo) 2: Post Intercooler Air Temp (manifold) 3: Ambient Air Temp (This allows me to calculate the intercooler efficiency and display this, you'll see it drop the hotter the day gets and then get better if you have a water spray) 4: Exhaust Gas Temps 5: Water Temp. As examples..... Plus it will log Temp vs Time so you can see how temps changed over a 1/4 miles sprint and even go back and using cursor keys pick out points on the plotted graph which it then reports the temps for you. So you can analyse the trace. Just wait until the JAE show on 28th July and try it for yourself (In demo mode) Hand held demo units will be available to play with and comment on. You can even take away a the full range on Floppy or CD to try at home on your PC to test the GUI. Plus I'll be taking pre-orders on the day (with discount) for those willing to trust me to get the finished production unit :-) Pete ps. all I cannot do is change the fact that it's a graphical display unit and thus is reasonable large (100mm*80mm*25mm, display size 70mm*80mm)

Terminator
Pete, I'll join the line at Billing. Sounds very good. I presume you are talking about down loading logged files for analysis on a laptop.
THOR Racing
I presume you are talking about down loading logged files for analysis on a laptop. No. It'll display the data on the unit and allow you to scan up and down (left and right) across the data or graph. BUT Later versions (Only a SW upgrade to existing units in the field) will have RS232 and thus can output this data to a laptop. One thing at a time :-) I intend the unit to be fully autonomous but with the ability to hook up a laptop and a PDA (PocketPC) in the future to simulate the LCD display and give you a virtual intsrument, taking real data from the hardware unit. Price would be around the £300 mark including the 'K' type thermocouple probes. I really need to do a proper costing ready for the show so this may vary. I really haven't a clue just yet. You'll be impressed though :-) You will have free SW upgrades for feature fixes. But there will be extra charge should you wish a bespoke/custom version for yourself with your own specific features, words graphics etc. But it won't be a great amount. I'm trying to offer flexibilty and customer support. Something you don't get with Jap stuff. So if it does go wrong I'm here to help and support your needs. THOR Racing
Terry, I have emailed you privately. Please be aware that many people from this list and elsewhere give me product ideas and if openly discussed does not give them a right to the product. I've placed much of my knowledge on my web sites for all to see and don't prevent people from using it freely. I only try to produce products that people want, saves wasting my time and money. I have modified a product that I've been designing for the past 3 years to suit many requirements (one being intercooler efficiency) . Technical data for the calculation of this information is in the public domain and therefore not owned by anyone. Please be very careful what else you say on an open forum like this.
