_Lynz_
I prefer a real tree, but 'the management' will not have it. We bought the current tree from B&Q in the post Christmas sale a couple of years back. Only cost £18 and was 10ft tall (probably why they couldn't shift 'em)!!! I got slated (as usual) as it was too big, but 5 minute's with a hack saw and hey presto, it's 8.5ft tall and fits a treat!! We've had the same problem this year we bought a 7ft 6 xmas tree from B and Q 2 years ago, when we lived in a terraced and had high ceilings. We've moved into a different house now and the ceilings where only 7ft 5, so Ste attacked our's with the hacksaw too. Still lovely though, thank god. Lucky you! We've got a simple 4ft fibre optic tree that I bought from B&Q a couple of years ago. Goes up in seconds, and it has twinkly white lights over it. No other decorations, except for the LED icicle lights up in our dining room/conservatory. Its minimal, but not as depressing after they come down to a bare room. Horrible! Pics to follow later

And yes it is depressing as hell when it all goes back in the box afterwards, so bare and cold.
