dangerous brain
And as its been dug up (this question again that is) its worth pointing out that if either of these lights do not light up in the pre-ignition sequence then there is a dry joint in the light unit itself which is a very common fault. Dash Rendar
And, so I've heard, if you see the red one, it's probaby already too late.
dangerous brain
The red one if it flickers first then you should have enough time to bring the car to a stop before any damage is done. Not advisable to let it run with it on the yellow light.
SUPRASUZUKI
And, so I've heard, if you see the red one, it's probaby already too late. That's about right. It's also the best argument for an oil pressure gauge (preferably with alarm).

JustGav
It would be VERY easy to fit a buzzer to the warning light, the only issue you would have is that it would go off when on ignition (A worthwhile annoyance personally)
SUPRASUZUKI
Trouble is, whether it's a buzzer or light it's likely to be a bit late to save damage if it's triggered by the factory switch (assumes the factory switch is 5-7psi?). Very true, but for the sake of a £1 buzzer, it is a better warning at least especially since the stock lights have this dry joint issue. Is the oil level okay? The light will sometimes come on going up or down a hill if it is low.
Tricky-Ricky
You can get electronic oil pressure gauge that has both audible and visual warning they are usually preset at 15 or 18PSI,or you can buy the pressure sensor for the Blitz I-color, so you can set your own warning also its easy to fit a super bright LED to the oil level warning light, to make sure you notice, saved my engine when i had a FMS problem;)

R3DG3CKO ROB
I've got the silver covers for the warning lights so both my oil lights are red - I'm presuming that the oil level light is the one with the little waves under the oil can?
