Before or after christmas

I'm waiting until after xmas - when I worked in a retail store I remember seeing prices either increase, or at least stay high until just after xmas - Boxing day etc was the start of price drops to get rid of excess stock.

Depends how impatient you are - put it this way - prices are less likely to go UP in the January sales....

i had the same dilema's:

plasma or lcd

26", 32" or 37"?

1080p, 1080i, or 720?

Samsung or Toshiba?

etc etc.

so ive decided to get a 37", non 1080p, lcd. on boxing day. if i get a bargain - great, if i dont - so be it. but one way or another im going shopping on the 26th :D

Choosing an LCD over a Plasmas is a bit like wanting a Ferrari with a diesel engine.

I've yet to see an LCD that matches the best CRT sets out there. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that my six year old Toshiba has a better picture than any LCD you could buy for sensible money.

You didn't say you had a price range initially. The answers no but, in all honesty, we appear to have different needs from a TV.

I am obsessed with image quality so, to me, two, three, four grand whatever for our next television will be the price I expect to pay for the best image (law of diminishing returns and all that) but as you want one for the bedroom then I suppose LCD would do.

Just make sure that you'll be able to see the image from your bed. LCD sets have p155 poor viewing angles.

Well I didn't expect to see this thread turn into LCV vs Plasma (no, really I didn't) but I think Michael hit the nail on the head with his previous post....

For me - 40" LCD 1080p is what I'm having to replace my Sony 32" 100hz CRT - At least one thing is that I'll finally be able to reclaim the 5 or so sq-feet of my front room :)
