Price would have to be about the £60 mark, is their much difference between 4 and 6 channel? SupraStar 3000 Posted December 15, 2007 Share Posted December 15, 2007 its all down to 1 major question: Do you want a fully controlable 3d helicopter or a kids toy? Any 4chl or contra rotating heli like the Lama is fine,.. but just a gimmick. if you want a real 3D fully controlable model I would look at 6 chl models like the Esky range, Cp2, BeltCP or KINGII. I'm hooked on these helicopters and have 6 now. If you look around you can find some real bargins on E-bay. Everyone seems to buy them and find it much harder than it looks. I have picked up 3 unwanted gifts from e-bay for under £50 and when you compare the technology between the basic helicopters and these Esky 6chl, models you'd be crazy to buy a 4chl contra rotating heli. If you want something thats fun, that you can fly right away, I would go with the micro ones, you may think the're a bit tiny, but trust me they are very controllable, epescially indoors and still so much fun when your aiming for grannys head come Christmas morning...... I bought my brother in-law one of the micro ones, everyone had great fun with it. I also bought my dad one of the larger 60 quid ones and to this day we still havent managed to get it off the ground longer then about 20secs with out it crashing...... I found a new 6Chl CP2 for £50 a few weeks ago. I bought my 9th Esky heli from e-bay today Its a Belt CP, 6 chl, TX, RX, RTF with onboard colour video camera All for £130 new. Pabs Posted December 30, 2007 Share Posted December 30, 2007 Well my dad had a huge collection of scale petrol helicopters until recently when he started selling them all, mainly because the club ground was built on, and there were no local flying fields left. We still have a couple of petrol planes, a couple of gliders, a boat, and a few helicopters left. Personally, I have a petrol trainer plane, and a Picoo Z mini helicopter. I've been using the simulators on my PC for a while now - planes are no problem but flying helicopters still requires some work My main interest in these electric heli's is what was mentioned earlier - you can fly them anywhere you like - and you don't need a license to fly Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

As far as I understood it (unless it has changed) because of the noise of petrol engines and the safety element, all petrol craft need to be flown at an approved flying ground (usually associated with a club) and you need to purchase a license to fly one. No Club to join No insurance No preflight set-ups and no need to drag all your ground kit half way across a feild to have a few minutes fun only to drag the kit back and drive home.
