nuttynutz Posted January 2, 2005 Share Posted January 2, 2005 Mong Kok, has EVERYTHING, and i mean everything, you want food, clothes, electronics, digi cam, phones, trainers, toys, illegal ps2 games and porn (be careful tho, they have raids everynow and then), basicly it has everything there. causwaybay, is also very good. if you want designer lable stuff (genuine) you need to go to shopping malls, but dont expect it to be alot cheaper than uk. imo, i dont think mobile phones are worth it there, but they wont have gei vodaphone/o2 ect stuck on it and are sim free. i rather just get an upgrade here, or start a new contract. sham shui po (golden arcade centre i think its called), is probably best for computer stuff ie. ps2, psp, nintendo ds?, pc components etc etc. if you want to see the tourist stuff, tsim sha tsui is good to view the honk kong island side (on the club calender, very bottom pic is Loks car? and the view of it) go to the peak, view basicly the whole of HK. lan gwai fong in central and wan chai is good for bars and clubs (prices of drinks about same as london if not more, so not everything cheap there). the BIG BUDDAH and stanley market, allow alot of time if you living in kowloon side. if you got time, go catch a movie, they usually out a couple of months first before released in uk ermmmm probably missed out alot of other things, but thats all i can think of so far hopes that helps Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

We have 2 prices for everything, one for local and one for "ghost man" which means "white as ghost people" The streets around golden plaza in sham shui po is best for HiFi leads, battery, wireless walkie takie and stuff. I apologise if I have offended anyone here especialy the one I refered to as white. I hope you guys understand I am not a racists person at all ! I am just telling the fact of life or business in HK or in fact Asia. Doesn't matter who you are, unless you speak local chinese you WILL get rip-off. But then the rip-off price in HK is still a lot cheaper then UK standard. I don't like the way they do business in HK and a lot of people are racists given that they have never have a need to meet others. Thats why I prefer UK and I am happy here with my SUP. I know as asian countries are like that too and its not just to do with colour of your skin, its more whether you are local or not. I recently went to Pakistan, and although by appearance i fit in when i spoke the locals could tell my accent was different and i was not a local, so they tried to rip me off. Its not a rascist thing its just that british currency carries a lot of weight. Christian Posted February 1, 2005 Share Posted February 1, 2005 I've been planning on getting a digital still camera for ages, with the T3 at the top of my list mostly because of it's size/shape. I was going to get one a couple of weeks ago but saw in 'Which Digital Camera' magazine (or similar) that they are doing a review of that type of camera including the T3 for the March issue, which you may just find on the news stands on your way out of the country. The main reason I put off buying the T3 was because the lens is very small - even if it is high-quality. The other thing you could look at is an iMate JAM - a PocketPC phone but loads smaller than an XDA. Best price over here without contract is £380-odd. nuttynutz Posted February 1, 2005 Share Posted February 1, 2005 qaisar, if you gonna get the ipod/ipod mini, make sure you get all the extra toys with it like gel type covers or isock (about £50 each) london pack of 6 isock type thing cost £9 if i remember seeing, itrip should be alot cheaper with the exchange rate so good now. digital camera, have you considered the canon ixus 40? but its only 4mega pix i think if you need to change money, do it there i suggest, at LIU CHONG HING banks, they dont charge commision. Hi Qaisar The best place to go for the ipod is Star House in Tsim Sha Tsui, which is right next to the TST star ferry pier. Star House in full of computer shops and there is an Apple shop in there. As Nic says Sham Shui Po (MTR station with map) will be good for the Golden Shopping Arcade. I bought the new PS2 (slim version) for HK$1400 (GBP100) a couple of months ago there. Should be a little cheaper now. Don't worry they are all pre-chipped to play anything. The second map shows Star House it is directly in front of you when you come off the Tsim Sha Tsui, Star Ferry pier. The Apple shop is on the 2nd floor of Star House.
