Washing Machine?

Last night our 12 year old Hotpoint gave up the ghost!!

Thought I would ask the masses, which washing machines have you all got and which ones should I avoid. Been reading the reviews of some on t'internet and they all get slated....:(

Our Hotpoint has been great but a lot of the reviews have said that the customer service is shite now!!

We Vicki just wants something quiet with quite a big load capacity. Initial cost isn't overly important but quality is!!

What's a washing machine?

Is that where the dirty clothes fairies take all the stuff that I throw in the laundry basket?

I think so!! Our last machine was really good as it ironed them and put them back in the wardrobe too!!

Miele appliances are amazing quality, they come with an 8 year warrenty as well, the are super quiet and very efficient, not the cheapest but one of the best, built to last for a change

8 years......

Just avoid any makers that have been swallowed up by Marconi - my experience with them is that they share cheap electronics and don't last at all. Brands subject to this are Hoover, Ariston, Indesit and a few others that I can't remember. Sadly your older Hoover will have been one of the decent ones before they got made disposable.

Personally I went for a Bosch when my Indesit went pop, it's been great.

Fridge freezer now the washing m/c. Feel for you H especially this time of year.:(

Had a Tricity Bendix for 5 years no probs.

But the Miele are fantastic. :)

The fridge is still going but leaking occasionally!!

WIFE - Washing Ironing F*cking Etc

Besides Michael (thanks), has anyone got any sensible advice then? I saw an Ariston today but I'll leave it alone based on that advice!!

Sensible cap on now.

Bosch and Miele are both very good, not cheap to buy but you said that wasn't a problem. If it were me I'd consider a Bosch: possibly not as expensive as a Miele but still very good quality, built to last.

Most other makes IMO are much of a muchness. We've got a Samsung, had it for a year, quite cheap to buy, but so far so good.

I'm surprised by how good Candy are for the money. I thought they'd be cheap rubbish (based on their price) that gives up after a short time, but been pleasantly surprised.

Laundry basket WTF is one of them??? I chuck my socks on the coffee table, my trousers somewhere between the toilet and the hallway (toilets just off the hall) my t-shirt usually in the bathroom and my kecks wherever i choose to take them off :D Somehow they end up back in my closet :D I started to thin out on socks as apparently leaving them on the coffee table is unacceptable.

Seriously though things to look out for are good name brands, decent warranty, spin speed is very important (pay a bit more for a 1600 speed and you'll spend 50% less time drying your kit than a 1000 speed). I've had hotpoints for years and really rate them. The german stuff is supposed to be very good.

i know hotpoint probably isnt as high on the list as the others but i got this one - http://www.hotpoint.co.uk/macro/product.d2w/report?typeref=21&prnbr=WT965 - a few months back and cant fault it at all. childlock, timer (water and electric rates are cheaper at night), large load capacity, 1600 spin, and the best bit - silent as a mouse!!!

havent had any issues with it whatsoever. really cant rate it highly enough.
