SteveL
Is anyone using any of the 'trackday' tyres the manufacturers are now producing? I've seen reviews of some of the latest tyres - like the toyo and Dunlop's - but not on anything like a supe - most are tested on 4wd cars like skylines and scoobies... I'm considering all things at the moment, from Kuhmo V70A's ( AFAIK ) to Dunlops Formula R's - but don't think it's worth going to slicks. Chris Wilson
I have used both Pirelli P-Zero Corsas and Michelin Pilot Sport Cups, their wet weather prrformance is not clever, but safe if you are careful, their dry weather grip, with the correct geometry and spring rates, is awesome. I have used them on Skyline GTR's, Supras and RX-7 FD models with excellent results once the geo is dialled in.
SteveL
Thanks Chris, I'll have to read up on suspension setups a bit..... Can you have a 'compromise' between track setup and fast road? - or is it not worth trying. I'm currently running Cusco uprated springs and Bilsteins, and on track they feel pretty stable - but obviously don't allow any adjustment. When the alignment was setup the guys had to compromise a little as they couldn't get 'factory' setup with the lowered springs and 18" wheels. Most of my time in the supe is spent on country roads as well, so this setup seems fine - I have more problems with traction than anything nasty in the handliing department :-) ( RLTC's on the cards.....)
