From the accidents that get reported on here with driver details, does anyone want to guess what the common factor is thus far? Inexperienced is more accurate, bearing in mind nearly all cars are front wheel drive these days. SD1s and Granada estates years ago in the snow gave me an insight into RWD 'issues'. And they're not accidents. accident • noun 1 an unfortunate incident that happens unexpectedly and unintentionally. 2 an incident that happens by chance or without apparent cause. 3 chance. There's always a cause and in all of them it's down to the driver.(Not just on here, I mean everywhere.) Therefore, it's a collision. Buying a Supra in November was probably not our wisest choice. You all know how it is, new toy wanna play and give it some beans and "woooppsyy daisy" lost the rear end. Anyways, my husband "the great driver" found out on two occasions today (only his 3rd drive) how slippery the ass end of a Supra can be. Hehehe. Thinking you should be able to keep up with that crappy escort in front despite the obvious fact that you don't have as much grip as it in poor conditions is just as fatal. Add to it the usual percentages of inattentive moments, overly aggressive driving from being late etc etc and crashes are happening. It only takes a split second for it all to go horribly wrong. Just slowing down, being lighter and more progressive on the controls and taking the conditions into account could be the difference between meeting with a roadsign or something else equally solid, or getting to where you want to go in one piece. If that was so easy in my case.If you are going to hit about 100 meters Oil on a corner,no matter what speed you are doing and the rear wheels go you will lose the car. Carl_S Posted December 16, 2007 Share Posted December 16, 2007 Seems as Class one has said people are overdoing it based on the conditions which is worrying as it isn't even at its coldest or worst road conditions . I have been using the soop all week and granted the roads are not particulalrly brilliant but they are not that bad and progress can be made without tip toeing around ! Maybe it is a combo of inexperience that is playing its part ? (I have cursed myself now , watch me hit a wall next time i take it out ) definately inexperience and driver skill played a part in my sticky moment. And a sense of trying to be the fastest.
