CJ
I recently did a swap deal with another member whereby he was getting my Garmin Sat Nav system and I was having something I wanted. The Garmin was in the UK with a friend of mine so I asked her to package it up well and send it to him. She did this but foolishly only sent it recorded delivery. Anyway, the member contacted me this afternoon to say the package arrived (although he didn't sign for it and isn't sure who did - but he is investigating) and it had been ripped open and the only thing left was the cigarette lighter cable. I have told my friend to open a claim with the PO but am not 100% convinced I will get anything. To say I am pissed off would be an understatement
Guest mk47
Real shitty mate, RM are crap. If sent recorded delivery you only get back compensation to the value of 100 first class stamps so thats £32. Sucks as im currently in the process of *trying* to make a claim. CJ
I am not holding out much hope. Bloody £200 down the fecking drain at a time when I can least afford it

Unfortunately, my friend is a little naive and trusting and didn't think of the consequences.

CJ
Feel sorry for her, its a nasty feeling when this happens. Aye, the poor lass was sobbing earlier when I rang her. but as I said to her, even though it hurts and is annoying, nobody died!
Chewie
I'm finding it hard to believe the postman would actually deliver a package that was obviously broken into. Postman Pat would be handing over an empty box with torn wrapping and the guy signs for it. I do have a few postman mates and for a start that would never happen because they would be the first suspects and lose their jobs and face criminal prosecution. It doesn't sound right to me. I am awaiting a report and pics off the member. Apparently it looks as if someone has signed for the package but the member doesn't know who it is. Until i get the full account I am in the dark a bit

Robert
It was me who did the swap and the package didnt look opened or damaged but when i opened it there was an empty smaller jiffy bag, the main sat nav uni was meant to be in there, im glad the unit has been locked via a pin but still its really crap. I wasen't here when it arrived and i didnt sign for it but on the outside of the package it says " i signed on your behalf - paddy", i've tried to look at the track and trace feature online and the signature is not there yet. I have emailed CJ the pics, i have no idea what to do now.

I had assumed that when you received the package it was obviously broken and open but according to the above, not so. Can I ask who actually gave you the package when you got home? Obviously, whoever signed for it would have had to give it to them (or AN Other) down the trail. As it stands, I have a package delivered and signed for and no way of recompense from the PO. Robert
ok ive just been told "paddy" is the postman and HE signed for it and left it by out sliding door. My step dad gave it to me when i came home. That what i was told and that was is printed on the front of the package.

Mmm...do I assume that anyone could have had access to the package where he left it? If so, I am certain that a claim could be made. What do others think? About a potential claim I mean? Robert
Well not really mate, no one comes down here and we have cctv here so i can check that if needed. I don't live on an open road as a few on here will know its on a private road and quite hard to find the flat. I have no other details mate. I would say it was done somewhere in the sorting office? as it was packaged up fine.
Paul
I wouldn't think that the Postie signing for it is quite legit? It's meant to be signed for by someone at the address not the pikey delivering it
CJ
OK, I have asked Robert to visit his local PO and query what has happened. I will also make a formal complaint to the PO as the package was not signed for by the intended recipient and was also left to be collected outside a front door. ivan
Hello...? Whch alternative reality was this post office in? Sounds like the real world to me Paul. Not everywhere is like the bed of roses that you live in mate.
colsoop
The postman signed for it and left it in an unsecure place You have a case there i think Col. I have had a couple of parcels that were meant to be signed for that miraculously got signed while i was out and left in the porch Complete lack of respect for peoples property or serious lack of common sense or both Hope you get it sorted Col, fire off an email to them
