  1. Might be a silly question, but why is the engine bay black, are they all like that or has it been resprayed. Only ever looked at black ones. Nice looking car though.
  2. For all of us who feel only the deepest love and affection for the way computers have enhanced our lives, read on. At a recent computer expo, Bill Gates reportedly compared the computer industry with the auto industry and stated, "If Toyota had kept up with technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving $25.00 cars that got 1,000 miles to the gallon." In response to Bill's comments, Toyota issued a press release stating: If Toyota had developed technology like Microsoft, we would all be driving cars with the following characteristics: 1. For no reason whatsoever, your car would crash twice a day. 2. Every time they repainted the lines in the road, you would have to buy a new car. 3. Occasionally your car would die on the freeway for no reason. You would have to pull to the side of the road, close all of the windows, shut off the car, restart it, and reopen the windows before you could continue. For some reason you would simply accept this. 4. Occasionally, executing a maneuver such as a left turn would cause your car to shut down and refuse to restart, in which case you would have to reinstall the engine. 5. Macintosh would make a car that was powered by the sun, was reliable, five times as fast and twice as easy to drive but would run on only five percent of the roads. 6. The oil, water temperature, and alternator warning lights would all be replaced by a single "This Car Has Performed an Illegal Operation" warning light. 7. The airbag system would ask "Are you sure?" before deploying. 8. Occasionally, for no reason whatsoever, your car would lock you out and refuse to let you in until you simultaneously lifted the door handle, turned the key and grabbed hold of the radio antenna. 9. Every time a new car was introduced car buyers would have to learn how to drive all over again because none of the controls would operate in the same manner as the old car. 10. You'd have to press the "Start" button to turn the engine off.
  3. I printed some of the pictures from the Kiddeminster/Worcester meet and took them into work to show our (scooby owner) mechanic. Found this pinned up on the notice board. I will get him back, but has anyone got any good suggestions for a suitable revenge.
  4. Much the same myself. Nice to meet everybody though. See you all at the next one.
  5. Make sure you are sitting down when toyota tell you how much they cost.
  6. "If you can give me a proper english alternative for 'F#ck off', then i'll happily use it. It certainly isn't 'go away'. GO AWAY!!!!!!!" Billy Connoley
  7. If you used pete betts fog light wiring, I modified his diagram so the bulb failure still works as it should. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=42029
  8. 2.8i was a great car with a few subtle mods to the suspension and brakes. First car i owned after passing my driving test.
  9. Good call - £53.43 for rescue/recovery/homestart. Beats the next best quote by over a tenner. Thanks for the advice
  10. I paid that 2 weeks ago, posted about it on here somewhere, nothing will ever get done: look at the last protests, the government said we were all killing baby seals an stopping ambulances, the protests fizzled out and petrols gone up ever since. Kick out Blair, kick out the EU, welcome our new president Bush is about the only answer.
  11. A matt finish dash polish helps, or you could get one of those huge opaque sunshades that covers half the windscreen and says "NOVA" on it. oh sorry....... wrong forum
  12. :complain:I've just spent 20 mins on the phone with a moron from direct line about my breakdown cover renewal. He had only a partial grasp of the english language, quoted me 5 different prices and refused to accept that my 1993 car wasn't an '86 - '89 model , so I told him to shove his policy up his ar$e and hung up. I've got 3 years NCB on breakdown cover. Anyone got any recommendations?
  13. Am trying this now, the car is sitting in the sun with little packs of silica attached to pieces of wire. I also noticed the little tubes on the back of the lights ( the ones with the little filter things on the end) look like they are supposed to have a bit of foam in them. Mine were all decayed so i've replaced them with new bits of foam from an old sponge. Might help absorb some moisture!
  14. I assume you will be going to worcester, get there early and expect to wait up to 3 hrs. Dont even bother with birmingham - 3 to 5 days
  15. Spent the weekend stripping and cleaning my J-spec headlights to get rid of condensation and yellowing, using the instructions off mkiv.com. Carefully sealed them up using black silicon. Washed the car today, and the nearside light was full of condensation again. My dad suggests putting some bags of silica in to absorb the moisture. Anyone know if this will work, or have any other suggestions to stop this happening again. Dont really want to split them again if possible.

  17. Lets hope it reaches the midlands soon, I paid 97.9 for bp ultimate yesterday, and this was at my local bp, not on a motorway. OUCH
  18. Ok since you asked so nicely.
  19. The Veilside front bolts to the front crossmember (underneath the radiator), Through the same holes as the front of the undertray. Tou may need to get some longer bolts, make sure you put the under tray inside the bumper, or it might lift at speed, and i'd recommend using some plate washers as the holes are close to the edge of the veilside bumper and they are prone to splitting.
  20. Anyone who disagrees is just plain wrong!!! Go rent Wild Things on DVD
  21. Was it an aero? they have drain tubes from the roof down the front and rear pillars
  22. I take your point about being blown up, the plods by us actually directed us toward Broad street, and a bit of info like whats happening, how long is everything going to be shut, how do we leave since you've stopped all the busses and trains would have been nice. If they were at all concerned about us being blown up, then surely they would have organised a proper evacuation to a safe location, not just told us to go away.
  23. my j-spec has got that sensor on it, all wired up, but only a standard j-spec clock (no temp). Is that all that sensor does, or does it send a signal to the ecu as well? Seems odd to fit the sensor, but not the temp gauge.
  24. I've just got back from my mates stag do in birmingham city centre - had to walk as they have locked our car in the car park and wont let us get it out. They shut everything pubs/shops/restaurants, and most importantly, lap dancing clubs Police were, as usual, useless. No information, no help, just get out of the city!
  25. You can buy an aftermarket warrany yourself, but i wouldn't bother. Cars over 10 years old and with (probably)high miles have so much small print, you'd just be wasting your money. Much better getting one of here, from a guy who knows and looks after his car.
