  1. sorry, not going to be able to make it - unless someone wants to volenteer to sit on top of my rad with a very large bucket of water. Hope the weather stays good for you all and i'll see you at the next one.
  2. Just finished my audio setup. I've already got a dvd head unit, 8 cd multichanger and 4 x 50w amp under the seat. I've just finished a custom sub box (2 x vive 12"), amp (vibe 1200w) and power-cap in the boot. The sub box takes up all the space where the old sub was and half the spare wheel well. For the carpenters out there, there is 30 individual pieces of mdf in the sub box alone - almost all of them with compound mitre cuts. Sounds great, and yes the aerotop still fits in the boot. It's the first one i've done and i'm well happy with it.
  3. i've got a Ford horn on mine. Found it in my dads garage, its very old and very loud.
  4. correct me if i'm wrong, but doesn't the "starter" position on the key kill power to non essentials, clock/stereo/lights etc.
  5. you need 2 x spdt. I used 15A cable from Halfords, getting several colours makes life easier
  6. 84999-70009 Heater control bulbs (5 of, two visible, 3 behind the cover for the buttons) 83119-24070 warning light bulbs (oil light, door open etc - these also fit the switches (hazard/trac))

  8. sounds like the solenoid to me - had the same problem last week. Hope it is anyway, its a cheap easy fix
  9. i've just ordered some of these from Mr T. Both pipes for the heater and 5l coolant: £116.83:cry:
  10. All the components are behind the trim panel in the boot. n/c is not connected In order to convince the bulb failure unit, the resistors need to draw roughly as much current a 2 x 21w stop bulbs. as the resistors only have a max rating of 10w you need 4 of them. Using 4 x 15ohm resistors you use approx 36w, which is enough to fool the bulb failure unit that there are 2 working stoplamps there.
  11. wire brush them first, then silver smoothrite looks good
  12. You've got 3 options for the foglight: Hangy downy thing - NOOOO!!!! Red bulb in the offside reverse light - OKish Or Pete Betts conversion - converts the inside brake lights to a fogs when switched on, but stays as stop/tail when the fogs are off. You need 2 x five pin automotive relays and some wire and terminals to do the basic conversion. Add 4 x resistors as above if you want the bulb fail circuit to still work. If you're in Birmingham, let me know and i can give you a hand if you need.
  13. I used to have a 3.0 elite and it was a great car......... when it worked. Unfortunatly it was the most unreliable piece of sh1te i've ever owned, and i've heard other people say the same. Apparently the one to buy is the 2.5 diesel elite - its got a BMW engine.
  14. thats the one, thanks merckx
  15. possible some play in the engine mounting or gearbox linkage. Put it i 4th with the engine off, clutch out, to lock the gearbox, then try to move the gearstick. if it still moves, its the linkage, if not its the engine mount. Fairly common on FWD cars.
  16. Can anyone with an EPC post a pic of the cooling system (J spec TT), particularly all the hoses round the back of the engine, and those going into the heater matrix. I need some part numbers. Thanks:thanks:
  17. I've got a full set of stock i/c pipes, make me an offer. also got a stock smic (reasonable condition) if you're interested
  18. O...........M............G I'll be back in........ ahem..... about 5 mins:eyebrows:
  19. is it when the air con compressor cuts in and out?
  20. I got 3 points + £40 fine some years back, in my MK III supe, for an average speed of 106 leptons. Was taken over a measured distance between 2 painted blocks on the road. Saw the copper as i passed the first block, hit the brakes and went over the second block at about 60leps. I'll leave you to work out how fast i was going when i first saw the law. Went to court and argued the case and got off with 3 points. The prosecution barrister said i put the best defence he'd seen in 15 years.
  21. Get a lighter out of any toyota at the local breakers - you should get change out of a quid
  22. cut off a bit of the thread from a corner using nail sissors, then silicone it into the hole. Use clear silicon
