  1. Was watching a salvage auction yesterday for a 1998 na aerotop, 49000miles. Heavy front and moderate rear damage. It didnt have the vvti engine and only had the small j-spec brakes. Finished at £3525.00. Seems like an awful lot of money to me. Hope it was no-one on here brought it.
  2. Is there such a thing as a facelift NA aerotop made in May'98 with a NON vvti engine. The model guide would suggest not, so i'm wondering if its had an engine swap or if it could be the original engine.

  4. The speed sensor is the same on uk and jspec, if you've got a uk speedo (or a converter) it will still read in MPH
  5. 406 diesels are very good, as are Renault Laguna (old shape) with the 2.0 16v petrol volvo engine. I used to have a Laguna and they are HUGE in the back, much bigger than the Volvo

    Ducks as pets?

I've got a big pond in my garden and i acquired a pair of Mallards a few years ago. They just turn up every spring. Not sure how you'll stop them flying away in the winter though.
  7. Decent size adverts at a reasonable price. 40ish words and a pic the size of a postage stamp for anywhere up to 50 quid if you put it in the magasine as well is a rip off.
  8. I think Halfords sell them, or any good audio/ice shop. Got mine in gold plate for around £15 each.
  9. If you've got a group of 4 out then it will be a damaged track on the circuit board. especially if they are at either end, or dead centre, where the screws go through. I split mine carefully using a dremmel circular saw and soldered a wire to replace the damaged track, then resealed with clear silicon.
  10. could be the outside temp sensor as in the uk spec. mine has a loom for it
  11. Repost of a repost http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=44222
  12. Did you fit RLTC yourself or pay someone to do it?
  13. wind the window down!!! much easier
  14. You forgot a poll option:- everyday poser I love driving it, even if its only on the school run
  15. Slide fown the plastic trim directly under the leather and you'll see 2 screws, one front, one back. Undo them and the gearknob should lift up. Thats the easy bit - the wire for the o/d button wuns through the centre of the shift plate to a plug at the front. Remove the surround and you'll see 4 screws, you'll need to undo them and remove the bulb from its holder. follow the wires back from the bulb and you'll see they go over a clip. unhook it and the whole lot should lift up. Follow the wires from the o/d off switch to the plug at the front and unplug it. The plug right next to this is for the manu button, unplug that too. Feed the wire for the o/d light through the shit mechanism until it comes out - very tight, but it should fit ( think there is a couple of cable ties as well), then route the new wire back the same way and reinstall. When i changed mine i took the whole centre console and armrest off too - gives you a bit more room to work. Its a very fiddly job - have fun.
  16. Mines mounted behind the o/s headlight. make sure you use the little rubber block that should have come with it to protect it from vibration, then 4 self tapping screws. Only works if you dont have stock airbox though.
  17. I have (had) a Dell inspiron 8500 Laptop which has recently stopped working. Took it to my local repair centre and they have said the motherboard is knackered, and quoted me about £380 for repair, so i've decided to scrap it. My question is, how much are all the other bits worth? Battery & charger 512Mb memory DVD / CD+/-RW combo drive 15.4" widescreen display Nvidea Geforce 4200 graphics card Keyboard Touchpad Probably some other bits in there too. Will probably be putting it all on Ebay, but if anyone could give me some ideas (or make me an offer!!)
  18. PM it to me then, sounds like we have much in common
  19. You're probably right, but at least its less likly to go up again. Remember if Brown gets into no10 then we will have a very left wing labour party again. I'm sure there are plenty of people here who remember to late '70s.
  20. So i've just shelled out £50k for a BMW X5 and watched the residuals plummet cos of the 'anti 4x4 brigade' and an extra £30 on my road tax. I think i'll sell it and buy a Prius Everyone will just pay the extra so we can pay more housing benifit to some fat council house slapper with 14 kids. We now pay more tax as a percentage of our income than ever in history. Lets just hope the country sees sense come the next election.
  21. Thanks Pete, just downloaded this, i'll upgrade from the consumer version. Word of warning from the guy who installed my system though: make a note of all the settings before you change anything " or you'll fu£k it up big style"
  22. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HID-XENON-CONVERSION-KIT-H1-H3-H4-H7-H11-9005-9006-9007_W0QQitemZ8045213197QQcategoryZ72235QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Has anyone got one of these. I'm generally wary about cheap stuff from ebay, but this guy has decent feedback and offers a 3 year warranty on bulbs and ballasts. Opinions please.
  23. Noise levels on cars are easy. If it'll pass an MOT then its not too loud. End of story. The only time your neighbour has grounds for complaint is if he can prove you sit there revving the nuts off it for ages.
  24. I fixed my AVCR with velcro tape from B&Q. Hasn't fell off yet.
