I just drilled out the holes where the old wires went through, then sealed them back up with silicon sealer. Its an easy job.

There was no sign of smoke last week, unless you've spent all week ragging it from cold i wouldn't worry, it will just be water vapour. If its burning oil, you'll be able to smell it.

I think us spec horsepowers must smaller than ours, cos there is no way you'll get 460 good old fashioned british bhp with that kit.

You do need to unbolt the top wisbone whre it mounts to the subframe cos the strut passes through it. You'll also need to remove the screenwash bottle on the n/s and (possibly) the smic if you've still got one. Doesn't need to be removed from the car though, once is's undone at the back, just swing it out of the way. The rear is straightforward, but you'll have more room to work if you pull the brake discs/calipers off. Make sure you undo the wires for the abs sensors and pull them out the way before doing anything else.

When I dynoed mine at the http://www.japworcs.co.uk RR day a few months ago it made 418bhp at the fly (the printout is in my garage). On the same day Petes BPU VVTi made 365 fwhp and Burnas stock uk spec made 301. I think those figures are pretty accurate, but would be interested to hear what CW thinks as he knows Petes car better than most. Also Chris, there was several runs on BPU cars with stock 440cc injectors and no fuel pressure mods, and they all ran quite rich (between 10:1 - 11:1 AFR). I know the injectors are fully open at that point so some fine fuelling control is lost, but wouldn't fitting bigger injectors make this worse unless the fuelling is trimmed back below stock using an SAFC or similar fuel controller?

You dont need a front fog light warning. The rear one only needs a warning light fitted in the car and able to be operate the switch from the drivers seat. http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual_110.htm Yours should be ok.

The fog light switch is a stock uk one with modified internals. As a J-spec doesn't have a 'fog light on' warning on the dash (must have one for MOT) i modified the switch so the fog light symbol on the switch lights up blue when the sidelights are on, then turns red if the fog lights are switched on. I've got an illuminated mirror switch that i made to put in next time the dash comes off. Heres the other side:

Bit unfair really, you could ask the same questions at most motor parts shops and not get an answer. I get cleaning stuff from Halfords, and some tools, but i only use specialists for parts etc.

Pull the knob off, then undo the nut that is behind it with a pair of pliers. The whole switch then comes out from the back of the dash.

I just set the launch rev limit using the digi adjuster to 4000rpm and the problem has gone away on mine as well

Dont think its something to do with the age of the unit because i brought mine new from mkivstore earlier this year. I suspect the dat file as well, but i haven't had time to have a play with it yet.
