  1. I got the whole fixture for £130. It included the motor, guide rail and window mount; the whole shooting match. I havent taken the motor apart yet, but may do. The cable is frayed and I guess it could be mashed up inside the casing. The top runner (plastic) has broken also - the initial problem I think. Pat
  2. All fixed now, Thanks to Nathan at TDi for sorting me out a 2nd hand part. 24 hour delivery and a couple of hours to fit it and I 've got a working window. The top pulley had broken and the cable had tangled in the motor as a result. Bit of a bitch to remove the old one cos the window was stuck down. Got the old one if anyone wants to recondition it? Pat
  3. I dont think so Matt. I'm not sure if the cable jumped the pulley or not. I havent checked that. Maybe the pulley broke. Regardless, I still need the new motor, and now I'll have to check the pulley
  4. Arse and double arse... Stupid MSB Supras. Its the drivers side one. Only got it serviced yesterday, sods law. Still, the HKS Hiper that was fitted sounds bloody awesome, even more so with the window stuck open!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Guys, Ive posted something on the For Sale, Wanted section. I need a window motor. Mines just packed up. It's chewed the cable up and now the window is stuck down. Can I just replace the cable? Can I get the window up? Has anyone got one lying around? Are they unique to the Supra (can I fit another one?) Help would be gratefully appreciated.
  6. I phoned up the head office and asked if they had anything like that and they sent it out to me... nice
  7. Optimax, all the time now. Used to run normal UL but will not go back now I'm running Optimax. Mind you, its a bit of a pain in the arse trying to find Shell garages in places you've never been to before. That fuel gauge has been well below the "E" sometimes. However, I've now got a booklet from Shell detailing all the garages they have in the UK... handy
  8. But all the Max Power brigade swear by those big (ricer) wings and lowering their cars... Seriously, this is a facinating subject for a technophobe like myself, I wouldnt have a clue as to whats going on with thw aerodynamics of my car, I get scared opening the bonnet!!! Learning something new everyday on this forum, maybe reading the bbs should be on the national curriculum!!!!!! Pat
  9. Chris, I know you mentioned lowering and smooth undersides, but how much does lowering really help. Would you have to drop the car so much that it would be impractical to use it on the roads? Pat
  10. Thats pretty much what I thought. I have been concerned that if I was to drive "fast" that not having the wing may compromise handling. Chris, what would you say the difference between wing and no-wing at 150mph would be? Pat
  11. A claimed 66lb of downforce at 90mph... hmmm So the rear lip doesnt provide any? Is that going to make a noticeable difference other than on the track?
  12. I've read through this thread and as usual I've learnt alot. Generally speaking the only significant way of achieving downforce from a wing on a Supra is to have a differently designed and much larger one and that it will only really make a difference at speeds of over 100mph. Now I have a JSpec TT without a wing, and my question is, under high speed road driving what difference in handling and downforce can I expect between my car and a similarly spec'd car with a wing? Is it worth going for a wing other than for cosmetic reasons? Pat
  13. I was gunning it down the M40 from Birmingham last night (got to get away from that place fast!!!) and decided to nail it even more. At about 4500rpm and not even at full throttle the cut came on. I it only happens above 135 leptons...
  14. Snowman, I get that with mine. I havent had the FCD fitted yet and dont know what boost I'm running. From what I've read on this BBS it looks like you're hitting fuel cut. If the problem persists with the FCD fitted then you need a restrictor ring fitted. Chris Wilson does one for the JSpec. I should be up at the meet on Saturday. Not going to the rolling road event, but will pop along afterwards. See you there Pat
  15. AJI; Thanks. I am still leaning towards replacing the front cat. I think the best thing is to have a word with Chris W. I get the impression from all the decat threads on the BBS that it will be OK, but there's only one way to find out. Regardless of which one goes first, I'm still looking forward to starting on the slippery slope of mods...
  16. I've been reading all the posts on CW pipes and de-catting etc... and I'm extremely tempted, I will be chacking the finances as soon as to free up a few quid for the mods. Can I just clear up one question? How much difference will replacing just the front cat with A CW pipe whilst retaining the remainder of the stock J-Spec exhaust? I intend to go for the whole shooting match but will only be able to do the mods in stages.
  17. So... the battery died on my car... it wouldnt go above 120... took it in for a standard service and mentioned this... they said they couldnt find anything wrong with it... Anyway, took it for a bit of a spin today and it cruised past 120... no problem!!!! I am confused, but pleased that I dont have to dismantle my car... Thakns for the replies though, I'll keep an eye on it and see if it plays up (dont know why it would though)
  18. Thanks, I'll give them a shout. I've just had a look at the TRL pages, and they seem pretty good. Not so daunted by the DIY job now. How long would it take do do this job?
  19. I've spent the last half an hour reading up on the previous threads on this subject, and I'm confused... My battery went dead the other day and since replacing it I cannot get the car above 120mph. The limiter has returned. I guess this has something to do with the way it was de-limited it to begin with. I dont think there's any way that I'd be able to do a DIY mod from the wealth of info here on this sight - something to do with having a phobia of seeing my car reduced to its component parts on my drive and having that one elusive screw left over at the end!!! Is there anyone within 50 miles of High Wycombe that could do the job for me? What would it cost? I'm feeling impotent by my supe's lack of speed... Please help!!!
  20. It sounds similar to a problem I had a few years ago with my Lancia. It chucked out white smoke when I lifted off and when slowing down. The problem got progressively worse, and the smoke became more frequent... I took it to a Lancia maniac and he said it was the turbo leaking oil and burning off the excess. Sure enough on the way to have the turbo replaced, boom... and a huge smoke screen generated...
  21. Hmmm... I've checked all the oil levels and there are no visible leaks. Might have to be a trip to the garage with fingers crossed and warranty in hand!!!
  22. I've noticed that after a 10-20 mile motorway run that there is some white smoke/steam coming from the engine bay and under the frnt half of the car... could this be the Cats? It only happens after a long high speed run, and once its cooled its fine...
